The Gospel of Luke

A Christogenea commentary On the Gospel of John has recently been completed. Many passages simply do not say what the modern churches think they mean! Don't miss this important and ground-breaking work proving that Christian Identity is indeed fully supported by Scripture.

A Commentary on Genesis is now being presented. Here we endeavor to explain the very first book of the Christian Bible from a perspective which reconciles both the Old and New Testaments with archaeology and ancient history, through eyes which have been opened by the Gospel of Christ.

A Commentary on the Epistles of Paul has been completed at Christogenea.org. This lengthy and in-depth series reveals the true Paul as an apostle of God, a prophet in his own right, and the first teacher of what we call Christian Identity.

Don't miss our recently-completed series of commentaries on the Minor Prophets of the Bible, which has also been used as a vehicle to prove the historicity of the Bible as well as the Provenance of God.

The Gospel of Luke

I 1 Seeing that many have taken in hand to arrange a report concerning those matters fully ascertained among us, 2 just as they who from the beginning having been eyewitnesses and attendants of the Word transmitted them to us, 3 it seemed good also to me, having closely followed from the first in all things accurately, to write to you methodically, most excellent lover of Yahweh, 4 that you may decide concerning the certainty of the accounts which you were taught.

5 There was in the days of Herodas, King of the Judaeans, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abia, and with him a wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabet. 6 And they were both righteous before Yahweh, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of Yahweh blamelessly. 7 Yet there was no child for them, because Elisabet was sterile, and they were both advanced in their days.

8 And it came to pass upon his serving in the duty of his division before Yahweh, 9 according to the custom of the priesthood he was assigned the entering into the temple of Yahweh to burn incense. 10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the time of the incense. 11 And there appeared to him a messenger of Yahweh standing at the right side of the altar of the incense. 12 And Zacharias seeing it was troubled and fear fell upon him. 13 And the messenger spoke to him: “Fear not, Zacharias, since your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elisabet shall produce a son for you and you shall call his name Iohannes. 14 And he will be a joy to you and an exultation. And many shall rejoice upon his birth. 15 For he shall be great before Yahweh, and wine and beer he shall not drink, and he shall be filled of the Holy Spirit yet in the womb of his mother. 16 And many of the sons of Israel shall he turn to Yahweh their God. 17 And he will go on before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the purpose of the just, to make ready a people prepared for Yahweh.” 18 And Zacharias said to the messenger: “By what shall I know this? For I am an old man and my wife is advanced in her days!” 19 And replying the messenger said to him “I am Gabriel who stands before Yahweh and have been sent to speak to you and to bring good news of these things to you, 20 and behold! You shall be silent and not able to speak until the day these things happen, because you did not believe my words, which shall be fulfilled in their time.”

21 And the people were expecting Zacharias and wondered at his being delayed in the temple. 22 Then coming out he was not able to speak to them, and they decided that he had seen a vision in the temple, and he was making signs to them, and remained mute. 23 And it happened as the days of his service were fulfilled, he departed for his house. 24 And after those days Elisabet his wife conceived, and concealed herself five months, saying 25 that “Thusly has Yahweh done to me in the days which He looked to remove my reproach among men.”

26 Then in the sixth month the messenger Gabriel was sent by Yahweh to a city of Galilaia named Nazareth 27 to a virgin promised in marriage to a man whose name was Ioseph, from of the house of David, and the name of the virgin was Mariam. 28 And going in before her the messenger said “Greetings, favored one, Yahweh is with you!” 29 But upon this saying she was confused and pondered what sort of greeting it could be. 30 And the messenger said to her “Do not fear, Mariam! For you have found favor before Yahweh. 31 Now behold, you shall conceive in the womb and you shall beget a Son, and you shall call His name Yahshua. 32 He shall be great and He shall be called ‘Son of the Highest’ and Yahweh God shall give to Him the throne of David His father, 33 and He shall rule over the house of Jakob for the ages, and of His Kingdom there shall be no end!” 34 But Mariam said to the messenger, “How shall this be, since I have not known a man?” 35 And replying the messenger said to her “The Holy Spirit shall come upon you, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow you, for which also the Holy One being born shall be called ‘Son of Yahweh’. 36 And behold! Elisabet your kinswoman, she also has conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who is called sterile; 37 because not any word is impossible with Yahweh.” 38 And Mariam said: “Behold the maidservant of Yahweh! May it be with me according to your word!” And the messenger departed from her.

39 And Mariam rose up in those days and went with eagerness to the hill country to a city of Judah, 40 and entered into the house of Zacharias and greeted Elisabet. 41 And it happened as Elisabet heard the greeting of Mariam, the infant in her womb jumped, and Elisabet was filled of the Holy Spirit, 42 and proclaimed with a great cry and said “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! 43 And how can this be with me, that the mother of my Prince should come to me? 44 For behold, as the sound of your greeting came into my ears, the infant in my womb jumped in exaltation. 45 And happy is she who believes that there will be a fulfillment of the things spoken to her from Yahweh!”

46 And Mariam said “Yahweh has magnified my life, 47 and my spirit rejoices in Yahweh my Savior, 48 because He has looked upon the low estate of His servant. For behold, from this time all the generations shall pronounce me happy, 49 because the Powerful One has done greatly by me, and holy is His Name, 50 and His mercy is for generations and generations for those who fear Him. 51 For He has made victory by His arm! He has scattered those who are proud in the thoughts of their hearts! 52 He has deposed potentates from thrones and He has elevated the lowly! 53 Those who hunger He has filled with good things, and those who are rich He has sent away empty. 54 He has come to the aid of His servant Israel, to call mercy into remembrance, 55 just as He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his offspring for the age.” 56 So Mariam remained with her for about three months, and returned to her house.

57 Then Elisabet fulfilled the time of her bearing, and gave birth to a son. 58 And her neighbors and kinsmen heard that Yahweh had magnified His mercy with her and they rejoiced with her. 59 And it happened upon the eighth day that they came to circumcise the child and they called him by the name of his father, Zacharias. 60 And replying his mother said “No, rather he shall be called Iohannes!” 61 Then they said to her that “There is no one from among your kinsmen who is called by this name.” 62 So they motioned to his father for that which he wished to call him. 63 And requesting a tablet he wrote, saying: “Iohannes is his name”, and they all wondered. 64 Then his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue, and he spoke praising Yahweh. 65 And fear came upon all those dwelling around them, and the whole account was spoken throughout all the hill country of Judaea. 66 And it was put into the hearts of all of them who heard, saying “Who then is this child?” And indeed the hand of Yahweh was with him.

67 Then Zacharias his father was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, saying: 68 “Blessed is Yahweh the God of Israel, that He has visited and brought about redemption for His people, 69 and has raised a horn of salvation for us in the house of David His servant, 70 just as He spoke through the mouths of His holy prophets from of old: 71 preservation from our enemies and from the hand of all those who hate us! 72 To bring about mercy with our fathers and to call into remembrance His holy covenant, 73 the oath which He swore to Abraham our father, which is given to us: 74 being delivered fearlessly from the hands of our enemies to serve Him 75 in piety and in righteousness before Him for all of our days. 76 And now you, child, shall be called a prophet of the Highest: for you shall go on before the face of Yahweh to prepare His path. 77 For which to give knowledge of salvation to His people by the dismissal of their errors, 78 through the affectionate mercies of our God, by whom dawn visits us from the heights 79 to shine upon those sitting in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet in the way of peace.” 80 And the child grew and was strengthened in spirit, and was in the wilderness until the day of his manifestation to Israel.

II 1 And it happened in those days that there came out a decree from Caesar Augustus to register the whole inhabited world. 2 This first registration happened while Kurenios was governor of Syria. 3 And all had gone to be registered, each to his city. 4 So then Ioseph went up from Galilaia, from the city Nazareth, into Judaea to a city of David which is called Bethlehem, because of his being of the house and family of David, 5 to be registered with Mariam, whom was promised in marriage to him, she being pregnant. 6 And it happened to them while being there that the days of which she was to bear had been fulfilled. 7 And she gave birth to her first-born Son, and swathed Him and laid Him in a feeding-trough, since there was not a place for them at the inn.

8 And there were shepherds in that area, dwelling in the field and keeping a watch by night over their sheep. 9 And a messenger of Yahweh stood over them, and the effulgence of Yahweh shone about them, and they feared a great fear. 10 Then the messenger said to them: “Do not fear, for behold! I bring to you a message of great joy which is for all the people: 11 That today there has been born to you a Savior, who is the Anointed Prince, in the city of David. 12 And this is a sign for you, you shall find an infant swathed and lying in a feeding-trough.” 13 And suddenly there were with the messenger a multitude of the heavenly army praising Yahweh and saying: 14 “Honor to Yahweh in the heights, and peace upon the earth among approved men.”

15 And it happened, as the messengers departed from them into the heaven, the shepherds had said to each other “Indeed we should pass through unto Bethlehem and see this account which happened which Yahweh has made known to us.” 16 And being eager they went, and discovered both Mariam and Ioseph, and the infant lying in the feeding-trough. 17 And seeing it they made known concerning the account which had been spoken to them about this child. 18 And all of those hearing wondered concerning the things being spoken to them by the shepherds. 19 And Mariam kept together all of these words, collecting them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, honoring and praising Yahweh for all which they heard and saw, just as it had been spoken to them.

21 And when eight days were fulfilled for which to circumcise Him then His name was called Yahshua, which He had been called by the messenger before His conception in the womb. 22 And when the days of their purification were fulfilled, according to the law of Moses, they brought Him into Jerusalem to stand before Yahweh, 23 just as it is written in the law of Yahweh that “every male opening the womb shall be called holy to Yahweh,” 24 and to give an offering according to that spoken in the law of Yahweh, “a pair of turtle-doves or two young pigeons.”

25 And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Sumeon and this man was righteous and devout, expecting the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it was forewarned to him by the Holy Spirit, not to see death before he should see the Anointed Prince. 27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and in there being introduced to the parents of the child Yahshua, upon their doing that which is according to the custom of the law concerning Him, 28 then he took Him into his arms and praised Yahweh, and said: 29 “Now release Your servant, Master, in peace according to Your word: 30 Because my eyes have seen Your Salvation, 31 which You have prepared in front of all the people: 32 a light for the revelation of the Nations and honor of Your people Israel!” 33 And His father and mother were wondering at the things being spoken concerning Him. 34 Then Sumeon blessed them and said to Mariam His mother: “Behold, He is set for a fall and a restoration of many in Israel, and for a sign speaking in opposition. 35 But a sword shall pass through your own soul also, that the reasonings of the hearts of many should be revealed.”

36 Then there was Anna a prophetess, a daughter of Phanouel, from the tribe of Asher. She was advanced greatly in age, living with a husband for seven years from her maidenhood, 37 and she is a widow for as long as eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, serving with fasting and in supplication night and day. 38 And at that hour standing nearby she confessed to Yahweh and spoke concerning Him to all those awaiting redemption in Jerusalem.

39 And as they completed all the things according to the law of Yahweh, they returned into Galilaia to their city Nazareth. 40 And the child grew and was strengthened, being filled with wisdom, and the favor of Yahweh was with Him.

41 And His parents had gone each year into Jerusalem for the feast of Passover. 42 And when He attained twelve years, upon their going up according to the custom of the feast, 43 and having fulfilled the days, upon their returning the child Yahshua had stayed behind in Jerusalem, and His parents knew it not, 44 but they believed Him to be among the travelers. Having gone a day’s journey then they sought Him among the kinsmen and acquaintances. 45 And not finding Him they returned to Jerusalem seeking Him. 46 And after three days passed, they found Him in the temple sitting in the midst of the teachers and listening to them and questioning them. 47 And all those hearing Him were amazed by His intelligence and replies. 48 And seeing Him they were astonished, and His mother said to Him “Child, why have You done thusly to us? Behold, Your father and I travailing have sought You!” 49 And He said to them: “Why have you sought Me? Do you not know that it is necessary for Me to be engaged in the matters of My Father?” 50 And they did not understand the words which He had spoken to them. 51 And He descended with them and went to Nazareth, and was keeping Himself subject to them. And His mother maintained all of these words in her heart. 52 And Yahshua advanced in wisdom and in stature and in favor before Yahweh and men.

III 1 Now in the fifteenth year of the emperorship of Tiberios Caesar, Pontios Pilatos being governor of Judaea, and Herodas being Tetrarch of Galilaia, and Philippos his brother being Tetrarch of Itouraia and the land of Trachonitis, and Lusanios being Tetrarch of Abilene, 2 in the high priesthood of Hannas and Kaïaphas, the Word of Yahweh had come upon Iohannes the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. 3 And he had gone into all the region of the Jordan proclaiming an immersion of repentance for a remission of errors, 4 as it is written in the book of the sayings of Isaiah the prophet: “A voice crying in the wilderness: prepare the way of the Prince, make straight His paths! 5 Every ravine shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked paths shall be into straight ones, and the rough ways into smooth roads. 6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of Yahweh!”

7 Then he said to a crowd coming out to be immersed by him: “Race of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? 8 You should really make fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin by saying among yourselves ‘We have Abraham for a father’. For I say to you that Yahweh is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones! 9 But already even the axe is laid to the root of the trees: surely any tree not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire!”

10 Then the crowd questioned him, saying “So what should we do?” 11 And replying he said to them: “He having two shirts must share with he who has not, and he having food must do likewise.” 12 Then also the tax-collectors came to be immersed, and they said to him “Teacher, what should we do?” 13 And he said to them “Do not exact any more than that which is appointed to you.” 14 So those who were soldiers also asked him, saying: “And what should we do?” And he said to them: “You should not cause any agitation, nor make false accusations, and be satisfied with your provisions”. 15 And with the people supposing, and all reasoning in their hearts concerning Iohannes, that perhaps he may be the Christ, 16 Iohannes replied saying to all: “Indeed I immerse you in water, but He comes, who is more powerful than me, of whom I am not worthy to loosen the straps of His sandals. He shall immerse you in the Holy Spirit, and in fire! 17 Of whom the winnowing fan is in His hand, to purge His threshing-floor, and to gather together the wheat into His storehouse, but the chaff He shall burn with unquenchable fire.”

18 So then also many other things exhorting he had announced to the people. 19 But Herodas the Tetrarch, having been reproved by him concerning Herodia the wife of his brother, and concerning all of the evil things which Herodas had done, 20 added even this upon all: he had shut Iohannes up in prison.

21 Then it happened as all the people were being immersed, Yahshua also was being immersed and praying, the heaven opened 22 and he had seen the Holy Spirit descending bodily as a dove upon Him, and a voice coming from heaven: “You are My beloved Son. In You I am satisfied.”

23 And this was Yahshua, beginning at about thirty years old, being a son, as was believed, of Ioseph, the son of Eli, 24 the son of Maththat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Iannai, the son of Ioseph, 25 the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahoum, the son of Hesli, the son of Naggai, 26 the son of Maäth, the son of Mattathias, the son of Semeïn, the son of Iosach, the son of Ioda, 27 the son of Iohanan, the son of Resa, the son of Zorobabel, the son of Salathiel, the son of Neri, 28 the son of Melchi, the son of Addi, the son of Kosam, the son of Elmadam, the son of Er, 29 the son of Iasous, the son of Eliezer, the son of Iorim, the son of Maththat, the son of Levi, 30 the son of Sumeon, the son of Iouda, the son of Ioseph, the son of Ionam, the son of Eliakim, 31 the son of Melea, the son of Menna, the son of Mattatha, the son of Natham, the son of David, 32 the son of Iessai, the son of Iobel, the son of Boos, the son of Sala, the son of Nahasson, 33 the son of Adam, the son of Admin, the son of Arni, the son of Hesrom, the son of Phares, the son of Iouda, 34 the son of Jakob, the son of Isaak, the son of Abraham, the son of Thara, the son of Nachor, 35 the son of Serouch, the son of Ragau, the son of Phalek, the son of Eber, the son of Sala, 36 the son of Kaïnam, the son of Arphaxad, the son of Sem, the son of Noah, the son of Lamech, 37 the son of Mathousala, the son of Henoch, the son of Iaret, the son of Maleleäl, the son of Kaïnam, 38 the son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of Yahweh.

IV 1 And filled with the Holy Spirit, Yahshua returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 being tested for forty days by the False Accuser. And He did not eat anything in those days, and upon their completion He hungered. 3 So the False Accuser said to Him: “If You are a son of Yahweh, speak to this stone that it would become bread.” 4 And Yahshua replied to him, “It is written that ‘not by bread alone shall man live’.” 5 And bringing Him up he showed Him all of the kingdoms of the inhabited earth in a moment of time, 6 then the False Accuser said to Him: “I will give to You the authority over all this, and their honor, because to me it was delivered and to whomever I wish I could give it. 7 Therefore if You would worship before me, it shall all be Yours.” 8 And replying Yahshua said to him: “It is written, ‘Yahweh your God you shall worship, and you shall serve Him only’.” 9 Then he led Him to Jerusalem and stood Him upon the wing of the temple and said to Him: “If You are a son of Yahweh, throw Yourself down from there, 10 for it is written that ‘He commanded His messengers concerning You, to guard You closely’, 11 and that ‘by their hands they shall bear You, lest at any time You may strike Your foot against a stone’.” 12 And replying Yahshua said to him: “For that it says ‘You shall not tempt Yahweh your God’.” 13 And ending the trial entirely, the False Accuser withdrew from Him until a convenient time.

14 Then Yahshua by the power of the Spirit returned into Galilaia, and a report went out throughout the whole surrounding region concerning Him. 15 And He taught in their assembly halls, being extolled by all.

16 Then he went into Nazara, where He was raised, and entered, according to custom with Him on the day of the Sabbaths, into the assembly hall and stood up to read. 17 And a scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed over to Him, and unrolling the scroll He found the place where it was written: 18 “The Spirit of Yahweh is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and a restoration of sight to the blind. To send off the broken with release. 19 To proclaim a year acceptable by Yahweh!” 20 And rolling the scroll He returned it to the attendant and sat down, and the eyes of all in the assembly hall were gazing earnestly at Him. 21 Then He began to speak to them, that “Today this writing is fulfilled in your ears!” 22 And all gave witness to Him and wondered at the words of favor which came forth from His mouth, and they said “Is He not a son of Ioseph?” 23 And He said to them, “Surely you shall speak to Me this parable: ‘Physician, heal Yourself! Whatever we have heard happened in Kapharnaoum, do also here in Your fatherland!’” 24 Then He said “Verily I say to you, that not one prophet is acceptable in his fatherland. 25 And in truth I say to you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven had been shut for three years and six months, as a great famine came upon all the land, 26 and to not one of them had Elijah been sent, except to Sarepta of Sidonia to a widow woman. 27 And there were many lepers in Israel with Elisaie the prophet, yet not one of them had been cleansed except Naiman the Syrian.” 28 And they in the assembly hall had all become filled with anger hearing these things. 29 And rising up, they cast Him out of the city and brought Him unto a brow of the mountain upon which their city was built so as to throw Him down, 30 then he departed passing through the midst of them.

31 Then He descended into Kapharnaoum a city of Galilaia, and was teaching them on the Sabbaths, 32 and they were astonished by His teaching, because His discourse was with authority.

33 And in the assembly hall was a man having a spirit of an unclean demon and he cried out in a great voice: 34 “Hey! What is there with us and with You, Yahshua the Nazarene? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are, the Holy One of Yahweh!” 35 Then Yahshua chastised him, saying “Be silent, and come out from him!” And the demon throwing him down between them came out from him, not hurting him any. 36 And there came amazement upon all, and they spoke together to one another, saying “What an account this is! For that with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits and they depart!” 37 And a report went out concerning Him into every place in the surrounding area.

38 Then rising up from the assembly hall He entered into the house of Simon. And the mother-in-law of Simon was stricken with a terrible fever and they enquired of Him concerning her. 39 And standing over her He censured the fever and it left her, then immediately having risen she served them.

40 Then the sun setting, all as many as they had who were sick with various diseases they brought to Him, and He healed each one of them laying the hands upon them. 41 And there also came out demons from many, crying aloud and saying that “You are the Son of Yahweh!” And censuring them He did not permit them to speak, because they knew Him to be the Christ.

42 Then day coming, departing He went to a desert place, and the crowd sought Him and having come unto Him then they detained Him, for which not to go away from them. 43 But He said to them that “It is necessary for Me to deliver the good message of the Kingdom of Yahweh in other cities also, because for this I have been sent.” 44 And He was proclaiming in the assembly halls of Judaea.

V 1 And it came to pass with the crowd pressing upon Him then to hear the Word of Yahweh, that He was standing by the lake Gennesaret, 2 and He saw two vessels stationed by the lake, and the fishermen disembarked from them washing the nets. 3 And boarding one of the vessels, which was Simon’s, He asked him to set out a little from the land, and sitting He taught the crowds from the vessel. 4 Then when He had stopped speaking He said to Simon: “Set out into the deep and lower your nets for a catch.” 5 And replying Simon said “Master, through the whole night laboring we have taken nothing, but upon Your word I shall lower the nets.” 6 And doing this they enclosed a great multitude of fish, even bursting through their nets. 7 Then they signaled to the partners in the other vessel that they come to assist them, and coming then they filled both the vessels so as to sink them. 8 And seeing it, Simon Petros fell to the knees of Yahshua saying “Depart from me, because I am sinful man, O Prince!” 9 For amazement embraced him and all those with him, upon the catch of the fish which they had gathered. 10 And likewise also Iakobos and Iohannes, sons of Zebedaios, who were companions with Simon. And Yahshua said to Simon, “Do not fear, from now on you shall be catching men.” 11 And bringing back the vessels to land, leaving everything they followed Him.

12 Then it came to pass while He was in one of the cities, and behold, a man full of leprosy, and seeing Yahshua, falling upon his face he begged Him saying “Prince, if You wish, You are able to cleanse me.” 13 And extending the hand, He touched him, saying “I wish: you be cleansed!” And immediately the leprosy departed from him. 14 And He instructed him not to say anything, “but departing, show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing just as Moses had prescribed, for a testimony to them.” 15 And still more there spread around the report concerning Him, and many crowds gathered to Him to listen and to be cured from their illnesses. 16 And He was retiring into the deserts and praying.

17 And it happened in one of those days that He was teaching, and the Pharisees and teachers of the law were being seated, those who were come from every town of Galilaia and Judaea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Prince was in Him to heal. 18 And behold, men carrying upon a cot a man who was paralyzed, and they were seeking to bring him in and to set him before Him. 19 And not finding how they could bring him in because of the crowd, going up upon the roof through the ceramic tiles they lowered him with the cot into the midst before Yahshua. 20 And seeing their faith He said “Man, your errors are forgiven you!” 21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to debate, saying “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who is able to forgive errors if not Yahweh alone?” 22 But Yahshua, knowing their reasonings, replying said to them “Why do you dispute in your hearts? 23 What is easier, to say ‘Your errors are forgiven you’ or to say ‘Arise and walk’? 24 Now in order that you would see that the Son of Man has authority upon the earth to forgive wrongdoing...” He said to the paralytic “...I say to you, arise, and taking up your cot go to your house!” 25 And immediately rising before them, taking up that which he laid upon, he departed for his house extolling Yahweh. 26 And astonishment seized all, and they extolled Yahweh. And they were filled with fear, saying that “We have seen marvels this day!”

27 And after these things He departed, and having seen a tax-collector by the name Levi sitting by the tax office, then He said to him: “Follow Me.” 28 And abandoning everything rising up he followed Him. 29 And Levi made a great reception for Him at his house, and there was a great crowd of tax-collectors and others who were reclining at dinner with Him. 30 And the Pharisees and the scribes murmured of them to His students, saying “For what reason do you eat and drink with tax-collectors and wrongdoers?” 31 And replying Yahshua said to them: “The healthy have no need of a physician, but those having maladies. 32 I have not come to call the just, but wrongdoers to repentance.”

33 Then they said to Him: “The students of Iohannes fast frequently and make supplications, and in like manner those of the Pharisees. But they eat and drink with You.” 34 So Yahshua said to them: “The sons of the bridechamber are not able to make fasts while the bridegroom is with them. 35 But the days shall come, and when the bridegroom is taken from them, then they shall fast in those days.”

36 Then He also spoke a parable to them, that “No one tearing a patch from a new cloth puts it on an old garment, but if it is, then the new will tear and the old will not agree with the patch from the new. 37 And no one puts new wine into old skins, but if it is, the new wine will break the skins and it will pour out and the skins will be destroyed. 38 Rather one must put new wine into new skins. 39 And no one drinking the old desires the new, for ‘the old’, one says, ‘is good’.”

VI 1 And it came to pass on a Sabbath that He was passing through a planted field, and His students had been plucking and eating the grain, rubbing off the husks with their hand. 2 Then some of the Pharisees said “Why do You do that which is not lawful on the Sabbaths?” 3 And replying Yahshua said to them “Neither have you read that which David did when he and those who were with him had hungered. 4 As he entered into the House of Yahweh, and taking the bread of the presentation he had eaten and had given to those with him, which is not lawful to eat except only for the priests.” 5 Then He said to them: “The Son of Man is Prince of the Sabbath.”

6 Then it happened on another Sabbath that He entered into the assembly hall to teach, and there was a man there and his right hand was withered. 7 But the scribes and the Pharisees were closely observing Him, if He would heal on the Sabbath, in order that they would find to bring an accusation against Him. 8 But He knew their reasonings, and said to the man having the withered hand: “Arise, and stand in the middle.” And rising up he stood. 9 Then Yahshua said to them: “I inquire of you, whether it is lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do bad, to save or to lose a life?” 10 Then looking around at them all, He said to him: “Extend your hand.” And he did so, and his hand was restored. 11 And they were filled with a want of understanding, and discussed with one another what they could do to Yahshua.

12 And it came to pass in those days that He departed for a mountain to pray, and was passing the night in the prayer of Yahweh. 13 And when day came He called to His students, and chose out twelve from among them whom He then named “ambassadors”: 14 Simon whom He also named Petros and Andreas his brother, and Iakobos, and Iohannes, and Philippos, and Bartholomaios, 15 and Maththaios, and Thomas, and Iakobos son of Alphaios, and Simon who is called the “zealot”, 16 and Iouda the brother of Iakobos, and Ioudas Iskarioth who had become a traitor. 17 And descending with them He stood upon a level place, and a great crowd of His students, and a great multitude of people from all of Judaea and Jerusalem and the seacoast of Turos and Sidon, 18 who had come to hear Him and to be healed from their diseases. And those being disturbed by unclean spirits had been cured. 19 And all the crowd sought to touch Him, because power comes out from Him and heals all.

20 Then He, raising His eyes to His students, said “Blessed are the poor, because yours is the Kingdom of Yahweh. 21 Blessed are those hungering now, because you shall be filled! Blessed are those weeping now, because you shall laugh! 22 Blessed are you when men hate you and when they separate from you and they reproach and they cast out your name as evil because of the Son of Man: 23 Rejoice in that day and leap, for behold, your reward is great in heaven! For in accordance with these same things did their fathers do to the prophets.

24 “But woe to you who are wealthy, because you hold your consolation! 25 Woe to you who are full now, because you shall hunger! Woe to those laughing now, because you shall mourn and you shall weep! 26 Woe when all men speak well to you, for in accordance with these same things did their fathers do to the false prophets!

27 “But I say to you, to those listening, love your enemies. Do well to those hating you. 28 Speak well to those cursing you. Offer prayers for those abusing you. 29 To him striking you upon the cheek, you offer also the other. And from him taking your cloak, do not also forbid your shirt. 30 You must give to each who is asking, and from him taking your belongings do not demand back.

31 “And just as you wish that men would do to you, you likewise do to them. 32 And if you should love those loving you, what benefit is it to you? For even the wrongdoers love those loving them. 33 And indeed if you should do good to those doing you good, what benefit is it to you? Even the wrongdoers do this. 34 And if you should loan to from whom you hope to receive, what benefit is it to you? Even the wrongdoers loan to wrongdoers that they would receive back their belongings. 35 But you should love your enemy and do good and loan nothing hoping return and your reward will be great, and you shall be sons of the Highest, because He is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.

36 “You must be compassionate just as your Father is compassionate. 37 And you must not judge, that you would not be judged. And you must not condemn, that you would not be condemned. Acquit, and you shall be acquitted. 38 Give, and it shall be given to you. A good measure pressed, shaken, overflowing shall they put into your bosom. For in the measure which you measure shall it be measured in return to you.”

39 Then He spoke to them a parable: “Is any one blind able to guide the blind? Would they not both fall into a ditch? 40 There is no student above the teacher, but all having been restored he shall be as his teacher. 41 Now why do you see the stick in the eye of your brother, but the beam in your own eye you do not perceive? 42 How are you able to say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me extract the stick which is in your eye’, yourself not seeing the beam which is in your eye? Hypocrite! Extract first the beam from your eye, and then you will see clearly to extract the stick which is in the eye of your brother.

43 “For there is not a good tree making rotten fruit. Contrarily, neither is there a rotten tree making good fruit. 44 For each tree is known by its own fruit. Indeed they do not gather figs from thorns. Nor could they harvest grapes from bramble-bush. 45 The good man brings forth good from the good treasure of the heart, and the wicked brings forth evil from the wicked. From the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

46 “Now why do you call Me ‘Prince, Prince’ yet do not do the things which I say? 47 Every one who coming to Me and hearing My words and doing them, I will show to you what he is like. 48 He is like a man building a house who dug up and deepened and placed a foundation upon the bedrock. And a flood coming, the river burst forth against that house, yet was not able to shake it because it was well built. 49 But he who hears and does not is like a man building a house upon the earth without a foundation, which the river bursts forth against, and immediately it collapses, and great comes the breaking of that house!”

VII 1 When He had completed all of His sayings for the ears of the people, He went into Kapharnaoum. 2 And upon a certain centurion’s having a sickly servant who was about to die, who was dear to him, 3 and having heard about Yahshua, he sent to Him elders of the Judaeans, asking Him that coming He may preserve his servant. 4 And they coming near to Yahshua exhorted Him earnestly, saying that “Worthy is he for whom You may grant this. 5 For he loves our nation and he has built the assembly hall for us.” 6 So Yahshua went with them. And already He being not far from the house, the centurion sent friends saying to Him “Prince, You must not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should come under my roof! 7 Wherefore neither am I myself worthy to come to You, but speak in a word, and let my servant be healed. 8 For I also am a man appointed by authority, having under myself soldiers, and I say to this one ‘go’, and he goes, and to another ‘come’, and he comes, and to my servant ‘do this’, and he does it.” 9 And hearing these things, Yahshua admiring him and turning to the crowd following Him said: “I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such faith!” 10 And those who were sent, returning to the house found the servant healthy.

11 And it came to pass thereafter that He went to a city called Nain, and His students and a great crowd went with Him. 12 And as He neared the gate of the city, then behold: a dead man being carried out, the best beloved son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a considerable crowd from the city was with her. 13 And seeing her the Prince was deeply moved by her and said to her: “Do not weep!” 14 And going forth He grasped the coffin, and those bearing it stopped, and He said “Young man, I say to you, arise!” 15 Then the corpse sat up and began to speak, and He gave him to his mother. 16 And fear seized all and they honored Yahweh saying that “a great prophet has arisen among us” and that “Yahweh has visited His people.” 17 And this account went out in the whole of Judaea and all the surrounding area concerning Him.

18 And his students reported to Iohannes concerning all of these things, and summoning a certain two of his students Iohannes 19 sent to the Prince, saying “Are You He who is coming, or do we expect another?” 20 Then coming to Him the men said: “Iohannes the Baptist sent us to You, saying: ‘Are you He who is coming, or do we expect another?’” 21 And at that hour He had healed many from diseases and plagues and wicked spirits and many blind were granted to see. 22 And replying He said to them: “Going, report to Iohannes the things which you have seen and you have heard: The blind have their sight restored and the lame walk about, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor are brought good news, 23 and blessed is he who is not offended by Me!”

24 And the messengers of Iohannes departing, He began to speak to the crowd concerning Iohannes: “Why do you go out into the desert? To behold a reed being shaken by the wind? 25 Rather why do you go out? To see a man clothed in soft garments? Behold, those who are in splendid and luxurious garments are in the palaces! 26 But why do you go out? To see a prophet? Yea, I say to you, and greater than a prophet! 27 This is concerning whom it was written: ‘Behold, I shall send My messenger before Your face, who shall prepare Your way before You.’ 28 I say to you, no one born of women is greater than Iohannes, but he who is least in the Kingdom of Yahweh is greater than he!” 29 And all the people heard, and the tax-collectors deemed Yahweh just, being immersed in the immersion of Iohannes. 30 But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the counsel of Yahweh in regard to themselves, not being immersed by him.

31 “So to what do I compare the men of this race? And what are they like? 32 They are like boys sitting in the market place and calling to one another things which say ‘We piped for you and you did not dance. We sang dirges and you did not weep.’ 33 For Iohannes the Baptist came not eating wheat-bread nor drinking wine and you say ‘He has a demon.’ 34 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say ‘Behold the man is a glutton and a wine-drinker, a friend of tax-collectors and wrongdoers!’ 35 And Wisdom is justified by all of her children. ”

36 Then one of the Pharisees had asked Him that He would eat with him. And entering into the house of the Pharisee He reclined. 37 And behold, there was a woman who was in the city, a wrongdoer, and finding out that He reclined in the house of the Pharisee, she acquired a box of ointment, 38 and standing behind by His feet weeping, with tears she began to wet His feet and wiped them off with the hair of her head, and she kissed and anointed His feet with ointment. 39 And seeing, the Pharisee who invited Him spoke to himself saying “If He were a prophet, He would know who and of what sort is the woman who touches Him, that she is a wrongdoer.” 40 And replying Yahshua said to him “Simon, I have something to say to you.” “Then teacher,” he said, “speak!” 41 “Two men were indebted to a certain moneylender. The one owed five hundred denarii, the other fifty. 42 Upon their having nothing to repay, he forgave both. Now which of them should love him more?” 43 Answering Simon said “I suspect that to whom he forgave more.” And He said to him “You have decided correctly.” 44 Then turning to the woman with Simon He said “Look at this woman. I have come into your house. You did not offer water for My feet. But she with tears wet My feet and wiped them off with her hair. 45 You did not offer Me a kiss. But she from her coming in has not ceased kissing My feet. 46 You did not anoint My head with olive oil. But she with ointment has anointed My feet. 47 For that favor, I say to you, her many errors are forgiven, because she has loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, loves little.” 48 Then He said to her: “Your errors are forgiven.” 49 And those dining together began to speak among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives wrongdoing?” 50 Then He said to the woman: “Your faith has preserved you: go in peace.”

VIII 1 And it came to pass thereafter, that He was passing through each city and town proclaiming and announcing the good message of the Kingdom of Yahweh, and the twelve were with Him, 2 and there were certain women, who were healed from evil spirits and illnesses: Maria who is called Magdalane from whom seven demons were expelled, 3 and Iohanna wife of Chouza a trustee of Herodas, and Sousanna and many others, who had been ministering to them from their belongings.

4 And a great crowd coming together and upon their traveling to each city with Him, He spoke in a parable: 5 “The sower has come out to sow his seed: and in his sowing, while that which fell by the road was then trampled and the birds of heaven devoured it, 6 then others had fallen upon the bedrock, and sprouting it withered because it did not have moisture. 7 And others had fallen in among the thorns, and growing together the thorns strangled them. 8 Yet others had fallen onto the good earth and sprouting produced fruit a hundredfold.” Saying these things He cried out “He having an ear to hear must hear!”

9 Then His students enquired of Him: “What could this parable be?” 10 And He said “To you it is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Yahweh, but to the rest in parables, that seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not understand.

11 “This is the parable: The seed is the Word of Yahweh, 12 and they by the road are those hearing, then comes the False Accuser and he takes the Word from their hearts, lest believing they would be preserved. 13 And those upon the bedrock, when they heard they received the Word with joy, but these do not have roots, who for a time believe and in time of trial they withdraw. 14 And those having fallen into the thorns, they are those hearing and going off are strangled by the cares and riches and pleasures of life and are not brought to perfection. 15 But that which is in the fair earth, they are those who are fair and good in heart, hearing the Word, continuing they then bear fruit in patient endurance.

16 “Now no one lighting a lamp conceals it in a vessel or sets it under a couch, but sets it upon a lampstand, that those entering in would see the light. 17 For there is nothing secret which shall not become evident, nor hidden which shall not be known and brought to light.

18 “Therefore you watch how you hear. Indeed whoever has, it shall be given to him, and whoever has not even that which he supposes to have shall be taken from him.”

19 Then His mother and brethren came near to Him, yet were not able to meet with Him because of the crowd. 20 So it was announced to Him: “Your mother and brethren stand outside wishing to see You!” 21 And replying He said to them “My mother and My brethren are those hearing and doing the Word of Yahweh!”

22 And it happened in one of those days that He and His students boarded into a vessel, and He said to them: “We should pass through to the other side of the lake”, and they set out. 23 Then most of them had fallen asleep, and a furious storm of wind descended upon the lake, and being filled with water then they were endangered. 24 So drawing near they aroused Him saying “Master, Master, we are being destroyed!” And awakening He censured the wind and the waves of water, and they stopped, and it became calm. 25 Then He said to them “Where is your faith?” But being fearful they wondered saying to each other “So who is this that He even commands the winds and the water, and they obey Him?”

26 Then they came ashore in the region of the Gadarenes which is opposite the coast of Galilaia. 27 And with His coming out upon the land He met a certain man from the city having demons, and for considerable time who had not worn a garment, and has abode not in a house but among the tombs. 28 And seeing Yahshua, crying out he fell down before Him and in a loud voice he said “What is there with me and with You, Yahshua Son of Yahweh the Highest? I beg You, do not torment me!” 29 Therefore He commanded the unclean spirit to come out from the man. For many times he had seized him, and being guarded he was bound in chains and shackles, yet breaking through the bonds he had been driven by the demon into the wilderness. 30 Then Yahshua questioned him, “What is your name?” And he said “Legion”, because many demons had entered into him. 31 And they exhorted Him that He would not command them to depart into the abyss. 32 And there was a considerable herd of swine there feeding on the mountain, and they exhorted Him that He would allow them to enter into them, and He allowed them. 33 Then the demons departing from the man entered into the swine, and the herd rushed headlong down the bank into the lake and drowned.

34 And seeing what happened, the swineherds fled and announced it in the city and in the fields. 35 Then they came out to see what happened and they came to Yahshua and found the man from whom He had expelled the demons sitting at the feet of Yahshua dressed and of sound mind, and they feared. 36 And those seeing it reported to them how He had saved him being possessed by demons. 37 And the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes asked Him to depart from them, because they were stricken with great fear. Then He, boarding into a vessel, returned. 38 But the man from whom the demons were expelled had begged Him to be with Him. But He dismissed him, saying: 39 “Return to your house and describe what things Yahweh has done for you.” And he went out through the whole city proclaiming what things Yahshua had done for him.

40 And upon the returning of Yahshua the crowd received Him, for they were all expecting Him. 41 And behold, there came a man with the name Iahiros, and he was a leader of the assembly hall, and falling by the feet of Yahshua he invited Him to come into his house, 42 because his best-loved daughter, about twelve years old, was in it and she was about to die. And upon bringing Him the crowd constrained Him. 43 And there was a woman with a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent her entire livelihood with physicians, who was not able to be healed by anyone, 44 who approaching behind Him grabbed the hem of His garment and immediately the flow of her blood had stopped. 45 And Yahshua said “Who has grabbed Me?” Then all denying, Petros said “Master, the crowd constrains and presses upon You!” 46 Then Yahshua said “Someone has grabbed Me, for I know that power has gone out from Me.” 47 And the woman, seeing that she had not gone unnoticed, came trembling and falling before Him because of the charge that she had grabbed Him, announced before all of the people even how she was immediately healed. 48 And He said to her “Daughter, your faith has preserved you, go in peace.” 49 While He was speaking someone comes by the assembly hall leader saying that “Your daughter has died. Trouble the Teacher no longer.” 50 But hearing it Yahshua replied to him “Fear not, only have faith, and she shall be preserved.” 51 And coming into the house He did not allow anyone to enter with Him except Petros and Iohannes and Iakobos, and the father and the mother of the child. 52 And all were weeping and mourning her, and He said: “Do not weep. For she has not died, but is sleeping.” 53 And they were deriding Him, knowing that she had died. 54 Then grasping her hand He cried aloud, saying “Child, arise!” 55 And her spirit returned and immediately she stood up, and He commanded to give for her to eat. 56 And her parents were astonished, and He instructed them to say nothing of what happened.

IX 1 Then calling together the twelve He gave to them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, 2 and sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of Yahweh and to heal those with illnesses. 3 And He said to them: “You take nothing on the road, neither staff nor bag nor wheat-bread nor silver, nor have two shirts. 4 And into whatever house you should enter, abide there and from there depart. 5 And whomever does not receive you, departing from that city you shake off the dust from your feet for a testimony to them.” 6 Then going forth they passed through each village announcing the good message and healing everywhere.

7 Then Herodas the Tetrarch heard of all the things taking place and was perplexed on account of it being spoken by some that Iohannes had been raised from the dead, 8 but by some that Elijah has appeared, and others that some prophet of antiquity has arisen. 9 And Herodas said “I have had Iohannes beheaded, so who is this concerning whom I hear such things?” And he sought to see Him.

10 Then returning the ambassadors described to Him whatever they had done. And taking them He withdrew privately into a city called Bethsaϊda. 11 But knowing, the crowd followed Him. And accepting them He spoke to them concerning the Kingdom of Yahweh, and He healed those having need of treatment.

12 Then the day began to decline, and coming to Him the twelve said “Release the crowd, that going into the surrounding villages and farms they may lodge and find provisions, because we are here in a desert place.” 13 And He said to them: “You give to them to eat.” But they said “There is nothing with us more than five loaves and two fish, unless then going we could buy food for all these people.” 14 Indeed, there were about five thousand men. And He said to His students: “Have them recline in groups, about fifty each.” 15 And having done thusly then they all reclined. 16 Then taking the five loaves and the two fish, looking up into heaven He blessed them, and He broke and gave them to His students to offer to the crowd. 17 And they ate and all were filled, and the excess of fragments taken by them was twelve baskets.

18 And it came to pass while He was alone praying, the students joined with Him. And He questioned them saying “Who does the crowd say that I am?” 19 And answering they said “Iohannes the Baptist, but others Elijah, and others that some prophet of antiquity has arisen.” 20 Then He said to them “And who do you say that I am?” And Petros replying said “The Anointed One of Yahweh.” 21 And censuring them He commanded that no one is to speak this, 22 saying that it was necessary for the Son of Man to suffer many things and to be rejected by the elders and the high priests and scribes and to be slain, then in the third day to be raised.

23 Then He said to all: “If anyone wishes to come behind Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross each day and he must follow Me! 24 For whoever would wish to save his life shall lose it, and whoever would lose his life because of Me, he shall save it! 25 For what does it benefit a man gaining the entire Society but losing or suffering damage to himself? 26 Indeed whoever would be ashamed of Me and My words, him the Son of Man shall be ashamed of, when He should come in the honor of His and that of the Father and of the holy messengers. 27 Now truthfully I say to you, there are some among those standing here who shall not taste of death until they should see the Kingdom of Yahweh!”

28 And there came to pass after those words about eight days, taking Petros and Iohannes and Iakobos He went up into the mountain to pray. 29 And it happened upon His praying that the image of His face was different, and His garment gleaming white. 30 And behold, two men were speaking with Him, which were Moses and Elijah, 31 who appearing with effulgence had spoke of His departure which was about to be fulfilled in Jerusalem. 32 Then Petros and those with him were weighed down with sleep. Then being fully awake they saw His effulgence, and the two men standing with Him. 33 And it happened that upon their separating from Him, Petros said to Yahshua, “Master, it is good for us to be here, and we should make three tents: one for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah”, not knowing that which he speaks. 34 And upon his saying these things there came a cloud and it overshadowed them, and they were frightened upon the entering of them into the cloud. 35 And a voice came from the cloud saying “This is My chosen Son, of Him you listen!” 36 And upon the coming of the voice they found Yahshua alone. And they held their silence. And they reported to no one in those days anything of what they had seen.

37 And it happened on the next day upon their coming down from the mountain, a great crowd met up with Him. 38 And behold, a man from the crowd had cried out, saying “Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is my best beloved. 39 And look, a spirit seizes him and suddenly he screams and it attacks him with foaming and with pain it departs from him, crushing him. 40 And I had asked your students, that they would expel it, and they were not able!” 41 Then replying Yahshua said: “O faithless and perverted race! Until when shall I be with you that I should put up with you? Bring your son here!” 42 And then upon his coming forth the demon ravaged him and attacked him. And Yahshua censured the unclean spirit and healed the youth and He returned him to his father. 43 And all were astonished at the majesty of Yahweh.

And with all wondering at all the things which He did, He said to His students: 44 “You deposit in your ears these words: Indeed the Son of Man is about to be handed over into the hands of men.” 45 But they did not understand this saying, and it was disguised from them that they could not comprehend it, and they were afraid to question Him concerning this saying.

46 And there entered in a dispute among them, which of them would be greater. 47 But Yahshua, knowing the reasoning of their hearts, laying hold of a child had him stand next to Himself, 48 and He said to them: “Whoever would receive this child, upon whom is My Name, receives Me. And whoever would receive Me, receives He who has sent Me. For he being the least among you all, he is great.” 49 Then replying Iohannes said “Master, we have seen someone casting out demons in Your Name and we prevented him, because he does not follow with us.” 50 And Yahshua said to him: “Do not prevent. For whoever is not against you, is for you.”

51 And it came to pass, with the fulfillment of the days of His being taken up, that He had set firm His countenance for which to go into Jerusalem. 52 And He had sent messengers before His face. And going they entered into a village of Samaritans so as to prepare for Him, 53 yet they did not receive Him, because His countenance was for going to Jerusalem. 54 But the students seeing it, Iakobos and Iohannes said “Prince, do You wish that we should speak, to cast down fire from heaven and destroy them?” 55 But turning He censured them, 56 and traveled to another village.

57 And upon their going on the road someone said to Him “I will follow You anywhere if You should depart.” 58 And Yahshua said to him “The foxes have dens and the birds of heaven nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay the head.” 59 Then to another He said: “Follow Me.” But he said “Prince, allow my going first to bury my father.” 60 And He said to him “Let the dead bury the dead by themselves, but you departing proclaim the Kingdom of Yahweh.” 61 Then another also said “I will follow You, Prince! But first allow me to make arrangements for the things in my house.” 62 So Yahshua said to him “No one laying a hand upon the plow then looking to the things behind is ready for the Kingdom of Yahweh.”

X 1 Then after these things the Prince had appointed seventy-two others, and He sent them two each before His face into every city and place where He was about to go. 2 And He said to them “Great is the harvest, but those who work are few. Therefore ask the Prince of the harvest that He would send out workmen for His harvest! 3 You go. Behold, I send you as lambs in the midst of wolves. 4 Do not carry a bag, nor a wallet, nor sandals, and greet no one by the road. 5 And into whatever house you should enter, first you say ‘Peace to this house.’ 6 And if in it there should be a son of peace, your peace shall rest upon it, but if not then upon you it shall rebound. 7 Then in that house you stay eating and drinking the things from them. For the workman is worthy of his wage. Do not pass from house to house. 8 And into whatever city you go into and they receive you, you eat the things they offer to you, 9 and you cure those in it who are sick and you say to them ‘The Kingdom of Yahweh comes nigh upon you!’ 10 And into whatever city you should enter and they do not receive you, going out into its streets you say 11 ‘Even the dust from your city which cleaves to the feet we wipe off of us, but this you must know, that the Kingdom of Yahweh approaches!’ 12 I say to you that for those of Sodom it shall be more bearable in that day than for that city!

13 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaϊda! Because if there had taken place in Turos and Sidon the feats which took place among you, long ago they would have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes! 14 But for Turos and Sidon it shall be better in the judgement than for you! 15 And you, Kapharnaoum, shall you be exalted unto heaven? Unto Hades you shall descend!

16 “He hearing you hears Me, and he rejecting you rejects Me. And he rejecting Me rejects He who has sent Me!”

17 Then the seventy-two returned with great joy saying: “Prince, even the demons are subjected to us by Your Name!” 18 And He said to them “I beheld the Adversary falling as lightning from heaven! 19 Behold! I have given to you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and upon all the power of the enemy, and no one shall by any means do you injustice. 20 But in this you must not rejoice: that spirits are subject to you. Rather, rejoice that your names are inscribed in the heavens.”

21 At that hour He rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said “I give praise to You, Father, Sovereign of the heaven and of the earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to babes. Yeah, Father, because such have had approval before You! 22 All things have been given over to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is if not the Father, and who the Father is if not the Son, and the Son shall reveal it to whom He should determine.”

23 And turning towards the students, privately He said “Blessed are those eyes seeing the things which you see. 24 For I say to you that many prophets and kings have desired to see the things which you see, and they saw not, and to hear the things which you hear, and they heard not.”

25 And behold, a certain lawyer arose, making trial of Him saying: “Teacher, what should I do that I shall inherit eternal life?” 26 So He said to him: “What is written in the law? How do you read?” 27 And replying he said “Love Yahweh your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your entire strength and with your whole mind, and he near to you as yourself.” 28 And He said to him “You reply correctly. Do this and you shall live.” 29 But he wishing to deem himself righteous said to Yahshua “Yet who is he near to me?”

30 Retorting Yahshua said: “A certain man went down to Iericho from Jerusalem and he encountered robbers, and stripping him and inflicting him with a beating they departed, leaving him half dead. 31 And there happened upon him some priest who was going down by that road and seeing him he passed by on the opposite side. 32 And likewise also a Levite arriving at that place, coming and seeing him he passed by on the opposite side. 33 Then a certain Samaritan traveling came by him, and seeing him he was deeply moved, 34 and coming forth he bound his wounds pouring on olive oil and wine, and putting him upon his own beast brought him into an inn and took care of him. 35 Then on the next day paying he had given two denarii to the inn-keeper and said ‘You must care for him, and whatever you may spend in addition, I upon my coming back shall repay to you.’ 36 Which of these three is it supposed by you had been near to him who had fallen in with the robbers?” 37 And he said: “He doing mercifully with him.” Then Yahshua said to him “You must go and you do likewise.”

38 Then in their traveling He entered into a certain village, and some woman with the name Martha took Him in 39 and there was a sister called Mariam and she was sitting by the feet of Yahshua hearing His Word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and stopping she said “Prince, is it not a care to You that my sister has left me alone to serve? Therefore speak to her in order that she may help me.” 41 And replying the Prince said to her “Martha, Martha, you have care for and are troubled concerning many things, 42 but one thing is necessary. For Mariam has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

XI 1 And it came to pass, while He was in a certain place praying, as He had stopped, one of His students said to Him: “Prince, teach us to pray, just as Iohannes had also taught his students.” 2 So He said to them “When you pray, you say: ‘Father, Your Name must be sanctified. Your kingdom must come. 3 Give to us each day our daily bread. 4 And forgive us our errors, for we also forgive all those indebted to us. And do not bring us into trial’.”

5 Then He said to them “Which of you has a friend and goes to him in the middle of the night and says to him ‘Friend, lend to me three loaves, 6 since my friend has arrived from a journey to me, and I have nothing which I may offer him.’ 7 And he inside replying says ‘Do not cause me trouble! Already the door is bolted and my children are with me in the bed. I am not able rising to provide for you.’ 8 I say to you, even if he does not arise to give to him on account of being his friend, then on account of his impudence arising he will give to him as much as he may need. 9 And I say to you: Ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened for you. 10 For all who are asking shall receive and he who is seeking shall find and to him knocking it shall be opened. 11 Now from which father among you should a son request a fish, and instead of a fish would give to him a serpent? 12 Or then should he request an egg, would give to him a scorpion? 13 Therefore if you being base know to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall the Father who is from heaven give the Holy Spirit to those asking Him?”

14 Then He was casting out a mute demon, and it happened that upon the demon’s departing the mute spoke, and the crowds wondered. 15 And one of them said “By Beelzeboul the ruler of demons He casts out the demons!” 16 Then others, making trial, had requested from Him a sign from heaven. 17 But He knowing their reasonings said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is desolate and house upon house falls. 18 And if the Adversary is divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? Seeing that you speak of Me casting out demons by Beelzeboul, 19 now if I by Beelzeboul cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? For that reason they shall be your judges. 20 But if by the finger of Yahweh I cast out demons, then the Kingdom of Yahweh has overtaken you! 21 When the strong man being equipped should guard his court, his possessions are in peace. 22 But when one stronger than him coming should conquer him, he takes from him the armor upon which he had trusted, and they distribute his spoils. 23 He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who is not gathering with Me scatters!

24 “When the unclean spirit departs from a man, it passes through the waterless places seeking rest, and not finding it then it says ‘I shall return to my house from which I had departed.’ 25 And having come it finds it swept clean and ornamented. 26 Then it goes and invites seven other spirits more wicked than itself and entering in dwells there, and the end for that man becomes worse than the first!”

27 And it happened as He spoke these things, some woman raising a voice up from the crowd said to Him: “Blessed is the womb which bore You, and the breasts which You suckled!” 28 But He said “Wait! Blessed are those hearing and keeping the Word of Yahweh!”

29 Then upon the gathering of the crowd He began to speak: “This race is a wicked race! It seeks a sign, and a sign shall not be given to it except the sign of Ionah. 30 For just as Ionah had been a sign to the Ninevites, so also shall be the Son of Man to this race. 31 The queen of the south shall arise in the judgment with the men of this race and shall condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, a greater than Solomon is here! 32 The men of the Ninevites shall be resurrected in the judgment with this race and shall condemn it, because they repented at the proclamation of Ionah, and behold, a greater than Ionah is here!

33 “No one lighting a lamp sets it in a vault or under a bushel, but upon a lampstand in order that those entering in would see the light. 34 Your eye is the lamp of the body. When your eye should be sincere, even your whole body is light. But whenever it may be evil, then your body is darkness. 35 So watch that the light which is in your body is not darkness! 36 Therefore if your whole body is light, not having any part with darkness, the whole shall be light as when a lamp illuminates you with bright light.”

37 Then while He was speaking a Pharisee asked Him whether He would have lunch with him. And entering in He reclined. 38 And the Pharisee watching wondered that He had not first washed before lunch. 39 And the Prince said to him: “Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and the plate, but your inside is full of rapine and wickedness. 40 Fools! Has not He who makes the outside also made the inside? 41 But to the things within you should give mercy, and behold, all to you is clean! 42 But woe to you Pharisees! Because you give a tenth of the mint and rue and every herb, and you elude the judgment and the love of Yahweh. Now these things it is necessary to do and the others not to pass by. 43 Woe to you Pharisees! Because you love the first benches in the assembly halls and the greetings in the market places. 44 Woe to you! Because you are like unmarked graves, and the men walking over them do not see them.”

45 Then replying one of the lawyers said to Him “Teacher, saying these things You also insult us!” 46 So He said “And to you lawyers, woe! Because you load men with burdens hard to bear, and these burdens you touch with not one of your fingers! 47 Woe to you! Because you build the monuments of the prophets, and your fathers killed them! 48 Therefore you are witnesses and you consent to the works of your fathers, because they killed them, and you build. 49 For this reason also the wisdom of Yahweh says: ‘I shall send to them prophets and ambassadors, and some of them they shall kill and they shall persecute’, 50 in order that the blood of all the prophets spilled from the foundation of the Society should be required from this race, 51 from the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias who was killed between the altar and the house. Yeah, I say to you, it shall be required from this race! 52 Woe to you lawyers! Because you have taken the key of knowledge, you do not enter in yourselves, and you prohibit those who are entering in!”

53 And from that time of His coming forth the scribes and the Pharisees began to press upon Him cleverly and question Him provokingly concerning many things, 54 laying in wait for Him to catch something from His mouth. XII 1 Upon these things, with the myriads of the crowd gathering so as to trample one another, He began to speak to His students: “Above all, keep yourselves from the leaven – which is hypocrisy – of the Pharisees. 2 Now there is nothing concealed which shall not be revealed, and secret which shall not be made known. 3 But rather, whatever you speak in the darkness shall be heard in the light, and that which you have spoken in the ear in the vaults shall be proclaimed upon the house-tops!

4 “And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who condemn the body to death, then after these things do not have anything more which they may do. 5 But I shall make known to you whom you should fear: You should fear He whom after that condemnation has authority to cast into Gehenna! Yea, I say to you, Him you should fear! 6 Are not five sparrows sold for two assarii? And not one of them is forgotten before Yahweh. 7 But even the hairs of your heads have all been counted. Do not fear, you are worth more than many sparrows.

8 “Now I say to you, all who would agree with me before men, then the Son of Man shall agree with him before the messengers of Yahweh. 9 But he denying Me before men, I shall deny before the messengers of Yahweh. 10 And all who would speak a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him. But to whom should blaspheme against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven.

11 “And when they bring you in before the assembly halls and the rulers and the authorities, do not have concern for how or what you should answer or what you should speak. 12 For the Holy Spirit shall teach you in that hour the things which it is necessary to speak.”

13 Then spoke to Him one from the crowd: “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me!” 14 And He said to him: “Man! Who appointed Me judge or divider over you?” 15 Then He said to them: “You watch, and keep yourself from all greediness, because not in any abundance is life itself, from its possessions.”

16 Then He spoke to them a parable, saying: “The land of a certain wealthy man produced bountifully. 17 And he had reasoned within himself, saying ‘What shall I do, since I do not have where I may gather my fruits?’ 18 And he said ‘This I shall do, I shall take down my storehouse and I shall build a greater, and I shall gather there all the grain and my goods, 19 and I will say to my soul: Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Rest, eat, drink, be happy!’ 20 Then Yahweh said to him ‘Fool! This night your life is demanded of you. The things which you have prepared, for whom shall they be?’ 21 So is he storing up riches for himself and not for Yahweh.”

22 Then He said to His students: “For this reason I say to you, do not have care for the soul, what you should eat, nor for the body, what you should be clothed in. 23 For the soul is greater than food and the body than clothing. 24 Observe the crows, that they do not sow, nor do they harvest. With them is no treasury nor storehouse, and Yahweh feeds them. How much more are you worth than the birds? 25 Who caring among you is able to add a cubit to his stature? 26 Therefore if you are not able to do the least, why should you care about the rest? 27 Observe the lilies, how they grow. They neither labor nor do they spin yarn, but I say to you, not even Solomon in all his honor was clothed as one of these! 28 And if the grass is in the field today, and tomorrow being cast into a furnace Yahweh clothes thusly, how much more you, you of little faith? 29 Then you do not seek what you should eat and what you should drink, and do not get excited. 30 For all these things the nations of the Society seek after, but your Father knows that you have need of these things. 31 Moreover, you seek His Kingdom, and these things shall be added to you. 32 Fear not, little flock, because it has pleased your Father to give to you the Kingdom!

33 “You sell your belongings and give charity. Make for yourselves purses which do not grow old, an unfailing treasure in the heavens, which thief does not approach nor moth corrupt. 34 For where your treasure is, there also your heart shall be!

35 “Your loins must be girded and lamps burning, 36 and you be like men expecting their master, when he may return from the wedding, that coming and knocking immediately they may open for him. 37 Blessed are those servants, who the master coming shall find awake. Truly I say to you that he shall gird himself and have them recline and coming forth shall serve them! 38 Even if in the second and in the third watch he should come and find thusly, blessed are they. 39 But you must know this: that if the master of the house had known in which hour the thief comes, he would not have allowed his house to be dug through. 40 And you also must be ready, because in the hour which you do not expect comes the Son of Man.”

41 Then Petros said “Prince, to us do You speak this parable, or also to all?” 42 And the Prince said “Who then is the faithful, sensible steward, whom the master appoints over his attendants, to give the allotment of grain at the proper time? 43 Blessed is that servant, who coming his master finds doing thusly. 44 Truthfully I say to you that he shall appoint him over all his belongings. 45 But if that servant should say in his heart ‘My master delays coming’, and he begins to beat the menservants and maidservants, then to eat and to drink and be drunken, 46 the master of that servant shall arrive in a day in which he does not expect, and at an hour in which he does not know, and he will cut him in two, and he shall set his portion with the faithless!

47 “Now that servant who knowing the will of his master and not preparing or doing according to his will shall be clubbed much. 48 But he not knowing yet doing such worthy of blows shall be clubbed little. All to whom much is given, much shall be sought from him, and to whom much is committed, far more shall be demanded of him.

49 “I have come to cast fire upon the earth, and what do I purpose if already it is ignited? 50 Now I have an immersion to be immersed in, and how am I constrained until when it should be completed! 51 Do you suppose that I have come to offer peace in the earth? No, I say to you, but rather division! 52 For there shall be from this time five divided in one house, three against two and two against three. 53 Father shall be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against wife and wife against mother-in-law.”

54 Then He said also to the crowd: “When you see a cloud rising up in the west, immediately you say that a thunderstorm comes, and so it happens. 55 And when the south wind is blowing, you say that there shall be hot weather, and it happens. 56 Hypocrites! You know to examine the appearance of the earth and of the heaven, yet how do you not know to examine this time?

57 “Now why also from among yourselves do you not judge that which is righteous? 58 For as you go forward with your opponent up to the magistrate, while on the road offer work, to be released by him, that they not then drag you off to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the bailiff, and the bailiff cast you into prison. 59 I say to you, by no means would you depart from there, until you have repaid even the last cent!”

XIII 1 Then there were some present at that time who reported to Him concerning the Galilaians whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2 And replying He said to them: “Do you suppose that those Galilaians had been wrongdoers beyond all the Galilaians, because they suffered these things? 3 No, I say to you, but if you do not repent, all of you likewise shall be destroyed! 4 Or those eighteen upon whom the tower in Siloam had fallen and killed them, do you suppose that they had been debtors beyond all the men who are dwelling in Jerusalem? 5 No, I say to you, but if you do not repent, all of you in like manner shall be destroyed!”

6 Then He spoke this parable: “A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit in it and found none. 7 And he said to the vine-dresser, ‘Look, it is three years from which I have come seeking fruit in this fig tree and I find none. Cut it down, for why should the land be useless?’ 8 But answering he says to him: ‘Master, leave it this year also, until when I should dig around it and cast manure 9 and so then it may produce fruit in the future, but otherwise if not, you shall cut it down.’”

10 Then He was teaching in one of the assembly halls on the Sabbaths, 11 and behold, a woman having a spirit of sickliness eighteen years, and she was hunched over and not able to straighten up completely. 12 And seeing her, Yahshua called out to her and said “Woman, you have been released from your sickness!” 13 And He laid the hands upon her, and immediately she was restored and extolled Yahweh. 14 Then the assembly hall leader responded, being irritated that Yahshua had healed on the Sabbath, he said to the crowd that “there are six days on which it is necessary to work, therefore upon their coming You should heal and not on the day of the Sabbath!” 15 And the Prince answered him and said “Hypocrites! Would every one of you on the Sabbath not release his bull or ass from the crib and lead it off to drink? 16 Now, she is a daughter of Abraham, who was bound by the Adversary, behold, eighteen years! Was it not necessary to release her from those bonds on the day of the Sabbath?” 17 And upon His saying these things all those opposing Him were disgraced, and the whole crowd rejoiced at all the notable things being done by Him.

18 Then He said: “What is the Kingdom of Yahweh like, and to what should I compare it? 19 It is like a grain of mustard, which a man taking casts into his garden, and it grows and results in a tree, and ‘the birds of heaven nest in its branches.’” 20 And again He said “To what do I compare the Kingdom of Yahweh? 21 It is like leaven, which a woman taking conceals in three measures of flour, until when it is entirely leavened.”

22 And He passed through each city and village teaching and making the journey to Jerusalem. 23 Then someone said to Him “Prince, are those being preserved but few?” And He said to him: 24 “Strive to enter in through the narrow door, because many, I say to you, shall seek to enter and they shall not prevail, 25 after which the master of the house would arise, and bar the door, and you standing outside begin then to knock at the door saying ‘Master, open for us!’, and replying He shall say to you ‘I know not from where you are’. 26 Then shall you begin to say ‘We have eaten and we have drank before you, and you have taught in our streets!’ 27 And he shall speak to you saying ‘I know not from where you are, depart from me, all who work at injustice!’ 28 And there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you should see Abraham and Isaak and Jakob and all of the prophets in the kingdom of Yahweh, but you are being cast outside. 29 And they shall arrive from east and west, and from north and south, and they shall recline in the kingdom of Yahweh. 30 And behold, those who are last shall be first, and those who are first shall be last.”

31 At that hour some Pharisees came forward saying to him “Depart, and go thence, because Herodas desires to slay you!” 32 And He said to them “Going you say to that fox ‘Behold, I cast out demons and shall accomplish cures today and tomorrow and on the third day I am finished!’ 33 But it is necessary for Me today and tomorrow and on the following to proceed, because it is not allowed that a prophet is to be slain outside of Jerusalem!

34 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, she kills the prophets and stones those being sent to her! How often have I desired to gather together your children by which manner a hen does her chicks beneath her wings, and you desired it not. 35 Behold, your house is left to you! And I say to you, by no means may you see Me until it shall come when you say ‘Blessed is He coming in the Name of Yahweh!’”

XIV 1 And it happened while He entered into the house of one of the leaders of the Pharisees on the Sabbath to eat bread that they were watching Him closely. 2 Then behold, there was a certain edematous man before Him. 3 And responding Yahshua spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees saying: “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath, or not?” 4 But they were silent. Then taking him, He cured and released him. 5 And he said to them “Of which among you should a son or a steer fall into a well, and you should not immediately pull it out on the day of the Sabbath?” 6 And they were not able to argue against these things.

7 Then He spoke a parable to those who were invited, noting how they chose the best seats, saying to them: 8 “When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, you should not sit down in the best seats, lest perhaps one more honorable than you should be invited by him 9 and coming, he who invited you and him should say to you ‘Give place to him’. And then you should begin with shame to occupy the worst place. 10 Rather, when you are invited, go recline in the worst place, in order that when he who invited you comes he may say to you ‘Friend, advance higher’. Then it shall be an honor to you before all of those reclining with you. 11 Because everyone who is exalting himself shall be humbled, and he humbling himself shall be exalted.”

12 Then He also said to he who invited Him: “When you should make a lunch or a dinner, do not call your friends nor your brethren nor your kinsmen nor wealthy neighbors, lest perhaps then they in turn should invite you and it would be a repayment to you. 13 Rather, when you should hold a reception, call the poor, crippled, lame, blind, 14 and you would be blessed, because they have nothing to repay you. Indeed it shall be repaid to you in the resurrection of the righteous.”

15 And one of those reclining together hearing these things said to Him “Blessed is whoever should eat bread in the kingdom of Yahweh!” 16 So He said to him: “A certain man had held a great dinner, and invited many. 17 And he sent his servant at the hour of the dinner to say to those invited ‘Come, because it is already prepared!’ 18 Then they all began at once asking to be excused. The first said to him ‘I have bought a field and departing I have need to see it. I ask you, have me be excused.’ 19 And another said ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen and I should go to inspect them. I ask, have me be excused.’ 20 Then another said ‘I have married a woman and because of this I am not able to come.’ 21 And appearing the servant reported these things to his master. Then being angry the master of the house said to his servant: ‘Go out quickly into the avenues and streets of the city, and bring here the poor and crippled and blind and lame.’ 22 And the servant said ‘Master, that which you have commanded is done, and there is still space.’ 23 And the master said to the servant ‘Go out into the roads and parks then compelling to enter in, that my house may be filled. 24 For I say to you that not one of those men who were invited shall taste of my dinner!’”

25 And there gathered to Him many crowds, and turning He said to them: 26 “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his own father and mother and woman and children and brothers and sisters then also even his own life, he is not able to be My student. 27 Whoever does not bear his own cross and come behind Me is not able to me My student. 28 For who from among you desiring to build a tower does not first sit to calculate the expense, whether he should have for completion? 29 That perhaps laying its foundation and not being able to finish it, all those watching begin to mock him 30 saying that ‘this man began to build and is not able to finish!’ 31 Or what king going to meet another king in battle does not first sit down to deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to encounter he who with twenty thousand is coming against him? 32 And indeed if not, while he is afar off he shall send an ambassador who requests the things for peace. 33 So then in this manner all among you who does not dispose of all his own belongings is not able to be My student.

34 “Therefore good is the salt, but if also the salt has lost its savor, with what shall it be seasoned? 35 It is well fit for neither the earth nor for the dunghill. They shall cast it outside! He having an ear must hear!”

XV 1 Then all of the tax-collectors and the wrongdoers were approaching Him to hear Him. 2 And both the Pharisees and the scribes were murmuring saying that “He receives wrongdoers and eats together with them!” 3 So He spoke to them this parable, saying: 4 “Which man from among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them would not leave behind the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go for that which is lost until he should find it? 5 And finding it places it upon his shoulder rejoicing, 6 and coming to the house will call together friends and neighbors saying to them ‘Rejoice with me, because I found my sheep which is lost!’ 7 I say to you that thusly there shall be joy in heaven upon the repenting of one wrongdoer rather than upon ninety-nine righteous who have no need of repentance!

8 “Or what woman having ten drachma should lose one drachma, would not ignite a lamp and sweep the house and seek carefully until when she would find it? 9 And finding it would call together lady-friends and women neighbors saying ‘Rejoice with me, because I found the drachma which I had lost!’ 10 Thusly, I say to you, there is joy at the presence of the messengers of Yahweh upon the repenting of one wrongdoer.”

11 Then He said: “A certain man has two sons. 12 And the younger of them said to the father, ‘Father, give to me the allotted portion of the property.’ So he divided the substance with them. 13 And after not many days gathering everything the younger son traveled abroad to a distant land and there squandered his property, living profligately. 14 Then upon his spending everything there came a severe famine upon that land, and he began to be in want. 15 And going he joined himself to one of the citizens of that land, who then sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16 And he desired to be fed from the husks of which the swine were eating, yet no one gave to him. 17 And coming to his senses he said ‘How many employees of my father have abundance of bread, but I perish here in famine! 18 Arising I shall go to my father and I shall ask him, ‘Father I did wrong to heaven and before you, 19 no longer am I worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your employees!’ 20 And arising he went to his father. Yet upon his still being afar off, his father seeing him then had been deeply moved and running fell upon his neck and kissed him. 21 But the son said to him ‘Father, I did wrong to heaven and before you. No longer am I worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your employees!’ 22 But the father said to his servants: ‘Quick! Bring out the best robe and clothe him, and provide rings for his hands and sandals for his feet. 23 And bring the fattened calf, sacrifice, and eating we should celebrate, 24 because he my son was dead and lives again, was lost and is found!’ And they began to celebrate. 25 And his elder son was in the field. And coming as he approached the house he heard music and dancing, 26 and calling to one of the servants he inquired what these things could be, 27 and he said to him that ‘Your brother has come, and your father has sacrificed the fattened calf, because he being healthy has been recovered!’ 28 Then he was angry and did not wish to enter in, but his father coming out called to him. 29 And replying he said to his father: ‘Behold, I serve you so many years and at no time have I transgressed your command, yet to me you have never given a goat in order that I may make merry with my friends. 30 But when that son of yours is come, who has devoured your substance with prostitutes, you have sacrificed the fattened calf for him!’ 31 So he said to him ‘Child, you are always with me, and all things that are mine are yours, 32 but to celebrate and to rejoice is necessary, because he your brother was dead and lives, and lost and is found!’”

XVI 1 Then He also said to the students: “There was a certain wealthy man who had a steward, and he had suspected him of squandering his possessions. 2 And calling him he said to him ‘What is this I hear about you? Give me an account of your stewardship, for you are no longer able to be steward.’ 3 And the steward said to himself ‘What shall I do, that my master has taken the stewardship from me? I am not able to dig, and I am ashamed to beg. 4 I know what I shall do, in order that when I have been removed from the stewardship they shall receive me into their houses!’ 5 And calling on each one of those indebted to his master, he said to the first ‘How much do you owe my master?’ 6 And he said ‘A hundred baths of olive oil.’ So he said to him ‘Take your records, and quickly sitting down write fifty.’ 7 Next he said to another ‘And how much do you owe?’ And he said ‘A hundred kors of grain.’ He says to him ‘Take your records and write eighty.’ 8 And the master praised the unrighteous steward because he did wisely, because the sons of this age are wiser than the sons of light are towards their own race. 9 And I say to you, shall you make for yourselves friends from the riches of unrighteousness, that when you should fail they may receive you into eternal dwellings?

10 “He who is faithful with little is also faithful with much, and he who is unrighteous with little is also unrighteous with much. 11 Therefore if you have not been faithful with the unrighteous riches, who shall entrust to you the true? 12 And if with that of another you have not been faithful, who will give to you that which is your own? 13 No one servant is able to serve two masters. For either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will endure the one and despise the other. You are not able to serve Yahweh and riches!”

14 And hearing all these things the Pharisees being lovers of money then scorned Him. 15 And He said to them “You are justifying yourselves before men, but Yahweh knows the things of your hearts. For that which is being exalted among men is an abomination before Yahweh.

16 “The law and the prophets were until Iohannes. From then the Kingdom of Yahweh is proclaimed and all force their way into it. 17 It is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one stroke of the law to fail. 18 Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and she being divorced from a man commits adultery marrying.

19 “Now there was a certain wealthy man, and he was clothed in purple and linen, enjoying himself splendidly each day. 20 And there was a certain poor man named Lazaros cast before his gates having sores, 21 and desiring to be fed from those things which fall from the table of the rich man, yet even the dogs coming licked his sores. 22 Then it happened that the poor man died and he was taken up by the messengers into the bosom of Abraham. Then the wealthy man also died and was buried. 23 And in Hades lifting his eyes, being in trials, he saw Abraham from afar, and Lazaros in his bosom. 24 And calling out he said ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazaros in order that he may dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I travail in this fire!’ 25 But Abraham said ‘Child, you must remember that you received your good things during your life, yet Lazaros likewise evil things. And now here he shall be consoled, but you shall travail. 26 And besides all this, between you and us a great chasm has been fixed, by which those wishing to pass across from here to you are not able, neither from there to us may they cross.’ 27 And he said ‘Then I ask you, father, that you may send him to the house of my father, 28 for I have five brothers, so that he may testify to them that they may not also come to this place of trial. 29 But Abraham said ‘They have Moses and the prophets. They must hear them!’ 30 Then he said ‘No! Father Abraham! But if one would go to them from the dead, they shall repent!’ 31 But he said to him: ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither would they be persuaded should one be resurrected from the dead!’”

XVII 1 Then He said to His students: “It is impossible for scandals not to come, but woe to him through whom they come! 2 It would be better for him if a mill stone is placed around his neck and he were cast into the sea than he should be offended by the least one of these! 3 Watch yourselves! “If your brother should do wrong admonish him, and if he should repent, forgive him. 4 And if on each of seven days he should do wrong to you and seven times should turn to you saying ‘I repent’, you forgive him.”

5 And the ambassadors said to the Prince, “Add to our faith.” 6 Then the Prince said: “If you have faith as a grain of mustard, you may say to this mulberry tree ‘You must be rooted up and be planted in the sea’, and it would submit to you.

7 “Who from among you having a servant plowing or tending sheep who coming in from the field, says to him ‘Immediately, coming forth you recline!’ 8 Rather would you not say to him ‘Prepare something that I may have dinner, and girding yourself serve me while I eat and I drink, and after these things you shall eat and drink’? 9 Does he not have thanks for the servant that he do the things appointed? 10 Thusly also you, when you have done all the things appointed to you, say that ‘We are useless servants, who were obliged to do what we have done’?”

11 And it came to pass, while traveling to Jerusalem, that He had passed through the center of Samaria and Galilaia, 12 and upon His coming into a certain town they encountered ten leprous men who had stood afar off. 13 And they raised their voices saying “Yahshua, Master, have mercy on us!” 14 And seeing them He said to them “Going, show yourselves to the priests!” And it happened that with their going off they were cleansed. 15 Then one of them, seeing that he was healed, returned with a great voice extolling Yahweh, 16 and fell upon his face by His feet thanking Him, and he was a Samaritan. 17 And replying Yahshua said “Were not ten cleansed? Then where are the nine? 18 Are there none found returning to give honor to Yahweh, except he who is of another race?” 19 And He said to him, “Arising go, your faith has preserved you.”

20 Then being asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of Yahweh would come, He replied to them and said: “The Kingdom of Yahweh does not come along with observation. 21 Nor shall they say ‘Behold, it is here!’ or ‘it is there!’ For behold! The Kingdom of Yahweh is among you!”

22 Then He said to His students: “The days are coming when you shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you shall not see. 23 And they shall say to you ‘Behold, He is there!’ or ‘Behold, He is here!’ You should not depart nor give pursuit. 24 For even as lightning flashing illuminates from beneath this part of heaven to beneath that part of heaven, thusly shall the Son of Man be in His day. 25 But first it is necessary for Him to suffer many things and to be rejected by this race. 26 And just as it was in the days of Noah, thusly it shall be in the days of the Son of Man. 27 They were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were giving in marriage, until the day in which Noah entered into the vessel and the deluge had come and destroyed all. 28 Likewise just as it came to pass in the days of Lot, they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building, 29 but in the day Lot departed from Sodom, it rained fire and sulfur from heaven and destroyed all. 30 In accordance with these things it shall be in the day that the Son of Man is revealed! 31 In that day, he who shall be upon the housetop, and his vessels in the house, must not go down to take them. And he in the field likewise must not return for the things behind. 32 You remember the wife of Lot. 33 Whoever would seek to preserve his life shall lose it, but whoever would lose it shall be kept alive. 34 I say to you, in that night there shall be two men upon one couch, one shall be taken and the other shall be left alone. 35 There shall be two women grinding grain together, the one shall be taken and the other left alone.” 37 And replying they said to Him “Where, Prince?” So He said to them: “Wherever the body is, there also shall the eagles be gathered together.”

XVIII 1 Then He spoke to them a parable, in reference to the necessity for them always to pray and not to falter, 2 saying: “There was a certain judge in some city who feared not Yahweh and respected not man. 3 And there was a widow in that city and she began saying to him ‘Exact vengeance for me from my opponent.’ 4 Yet for a time he desired it not. But afterwards he said to himself, ‘Even if I do not fear Yahweh, nor do I respect man, 5 indeed on account of this widow causing me trouble I shall avenge her, lest in result of her coming she wears me out.’” 6 Then said the Prince “Hear what the unrighteous judge says! 7 Now would Yahweh not at all bring about vengeance for His elect, those who are crying out to Him day and night, and have forbearance with them? 8 I say to you that He shall bring about vengeance for them with haste! But coming then shall the Son of Man find faith upon the earth?”

9 Then He also spoke to some of those who are persuaded by themselves, that they are righteous and are despisers of everyone else, this parable: 10 “Two men were going up to the temple to pray, the one a Pharisee and the other a tax-collector. 11 The Pharisee stood praying these things to himself: ‘Yahweh, I give thanks to you that I am not as the rest of men, robbers, unrighteous, adulterers, or even as this tax-collector. 12 I fast twice each week, I give a tenth of all of whatever I should gain.’ 13 But the tax-collector stood afar off not having desire to nor raising his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast saying ‘Yahweh, make propitiation for me, a wrongdoer!’ 14 I say to you, he going down to his house is justified beyond the other, because everyone who is exalting himself shall be humbled, and he humbling himself shall be exalted.”

15 Then they also brought to Him the infants in order that He hold them, but seeing it the students admonished them. 16 But Yahshua called out to them saying “Let the children come to Me and do not prevent them, for of such as these is the Kingdom of Yahweh. 17 Truly I say to you: Whoever does not accept the Kingdom of Yahweh as a child by no means may enter into it!”

18 And one of the leaders questioned Him saying “Good Teacher, what should I do that I may inherit eternal life?” 19 And Yahshua said to him “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except one, Yahweh. 20 Know the commandments: You should not commit adultery, you should not murder, you should not steal, you should not testify falsely, honor your father and mother.” 21 Then he said “All these things I have kept from youth!” 22 And hearing it Yahshua said to him: “Then one thing is left for you: All whatever you have, sell and distribute to the poor, and you shall have treasure in the heavens. Then come, follow Me.” 23 But hearing these things he had become very grieved, for he was exceedingly wealthy.

24 Then seeing him Yahshua said: “How difficultly those having riches enter into the Kingdom of Yahweh! 25 Indeed it is easier for a camel to enter through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of Yahweh.” 26 And those listening said “Then who is able to be saved?” 27 So He said “Things impossible with men are possible with Yahweh!” 28 Then Petros said “Look, we leaving our own things have followed you!” 29 And He said to them: “Truly I say to you, that there is no one who has left a house or wife or brother or parents or children because of the Kingdom of Yahweh 30 who would by no means recover many times more in this time, and eternal life in the age which is coming!”

31 Then taking aside the twelve He said to them, “Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things written by the prophets for the Son of Man shall be completed. 32 For He shall be handed over to the heathens, and mocked and abused and spat upon 33 and being scourged they shall slay Him, and in the third day He shall be resurrected.” 34 Yet they understood not one of these things, and this saying was hidden from them and they did not discern the things being spoken.

35 Then it happened upon His coming near to Iericho, a certain blind man sat by the road begging. 36 And hearing the crowd passing through he inquired what this could be. 37 So they announced to him that “Yahshua the Nazoraian is passing by.” 38 And he yelled saying “Yahshua Son of David, have mercy on me!” 39 Then those leading the way admonished him, that he should be silent. But by much more he cried out “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 40 So Yahshua stopping commanded that he be brought to Him, then approaching him He inquired of him: 41 “What do you wish that I should do for you?” And he said “Prince, that I may see again!” 42 And Yahshua said to him “See again! Your faith has preserved you!” 43 And immediately his sight recovered and he followed Him, extolling Yahweh. And all the people seeing gave praise to Yahweh.

XIX 1 Then entering in He passed through Iericho, 2 and behold, a man by name called Zakchaios, and he was chief tax-collector and he was wealthy. 3 And he sought to see Yahshua, who He is, and was not able because of the crowd, for he was small in stature. 4 Yet running ahead to the front he went up into a mulberry tree that he may see Him, since He was about to pass through there. 5 And as He came by the place, Yahshua looking up said to him: “Zakchaios! Hurry, you must come down! For today it is necessary for Me to stay at your house!” 6 Then hurrying he came down and welcomed Him rejoicing. 7 And all those seeing it murmured, saying that “With a sinful man He has entered in to lodge!” 8 Then stopping Zakchaios said to the Prince: “Behold, half of my property, Prince, I give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything of anyone, I return it fourfold!” 9 And Yahshua said to him that “Today has preservation come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham! 10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which has been lost!”

11 Then adding a parable He spoke for those hearing these things, because He was near to Jerusalem and they were supposing that immediately the Kingdom of Yahweh was going to appear. 12 Therefore He said: “A certain man of noble birth had gone to a distant land, to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. 13 And calling ten of his servants he gave to them ten minas and said to them ‘Engage yourselves in business while I go.’ 14 And his citizens hated him and they sent ambassadors after him saying ‘We do not want him to rule over us!’ 15 Then it came to pass upon his return from receiving the kingdom that he said to call for him the servants, those to whom he gave the money, that he would know what they did while engaged in business. 16 And the first came saying ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas!’ 17 And he said to him ‘Very well, good servant. Because you have been faithful with the least, you must have authority over ten cities.’ 18 And the second had come saying ‘Your mina, master, has made five minas!’ 19 So he then said to him ‘And you must be over five cities.’ 20 And another had come saying ‘Master, behold, your mina which was kept hidden in a handkerchief. 21 For I was in fear of you, because you are a harsh man. You take that which you have not laid up, and you harvest that which you have not sown.’ 22 He said to him ‘From your mouth I shall judge you, wicked servant! Because you had known that I am a harsh man, taking that which I have not laid up, and harvesting that which I have not sown! 23 Yet for what reason did you not give my money to the bank, that I coming would exact it with interest?’ 24 And to those present he said ‘Take the mina from him and give it to him having the ten minas!’ 25 And they said to him ‘Master, he has ten minas!’ 26 ‘I say to you that to all having shall be given, but from he not having even that which he has shall be taken! 27 But my enemies, those who do not want me to rule over them, you bring them here and slay them before me!’” 28 And speaking these things He went forward, going up to Jerusalem.

29 And it came to pass, as He had come near to Bethphage and Bethania, near the mountain called “of Olives”, He sent two of the students 30 saying, “Go into the opposite village, upon which entering you shall find a leashed colt, on which not one man has ever sat, and releasing it bring it. 31 And if anyone should ask you ‘Why do you release it?’ you speak thusly: ‘Because the Prince has need of it!’” 32 Then departing those who were sent found just as He said to them. 33 And upon their releasing the colt, its masters said to them “Why do you release the colt?” 34 Then they said “Because the Prince has need of it!” 35 And they brought it to Yahshua, and casting their garments upon the colt they mounted Yahshua. 36 And upon His going they were spreading their garments in the road. 37 Then upon His approaching, already near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of students rejoicing began to praise Yahweh with a great voice concerning all of the feats which they had seen, 38 saying “Blessed is He coming, the King in the Name of Yahweh! Peace in heaven and honor in the heights!” 39 And some of the Pharisees from the crowd said to Him “Teacher! Admonish Your students!” 40 And replying He said “I say to you, if they should stay silent, the stones shall cry out!”

41 And as He approached, seeing the city He wept for it, 42 saying that “If you had known in this day, even you, the things for peace! But now it is hidden from your eyes! 43 Because the days come upon you and your enemies shall cast a palisade around you and they shall encompass you and enclose you from every side, 44 and they shall level you to the ground and your children with you, and they shall not leave in you a stone upon a stone, because you have not discerned the time of your visitation!”

45 And entering into the temple He began to cast out the dealers 46 saying to them: “It is written that ‘My house shall be a house of prayer’, but you have made it a den of robbers!”

47 Then He was teaching each day in the temple. And the high priests and the scribes and the leaders of the people sought to destroy Him. 48 Yet they could not find that which they should do, for all of the people were devoted to hearing Him.

XX 1 And it came to pass on one of the days of His teaching the people in the temple and announcing the good message, there appeared the high priests and the scribes with the elders 2 and they spoke, saying to Him “Tell us, by what sort of authority do You do these things? Or who is it who has given to You that authority?” 3 But replying He said to them “I also shall ask you a question, and you must tell Me: 4 The immersion of Iohannes, was it from of heaven or from of men?” 5 So they had reckoned together among themselves saying that “If we say ‘from heaven’, He will say ‘For what reason did you not believe him?’ 6 But if we say ‘from men’, all the people shall stone us. For it is believed that Iohannes is a prophet.” 7 And they replied not knowing from where. 8 And Yahshua said to them “Neither shall I tell you by what sort of authority I do these things.”

9 Then He began to speak to the people this parable: “A man had planted a vineyard, and he hired it out to husbandmen and departed the country for a considerable time. 10 And in the proper season he sent to those husbandmen a servant, that they should give to him from the fruit of the vineyard. But the husbandmen flailing him sent him away empty-handed. 11 Then he proceeded to send another servant, but him also flailing and dishonoring they sent away empty-handed. 12 Then he proceeded to send a third, and also injuring him they cast him out. 13 Then the master of the vineyard said ‘What shall I do? I shall send my beloved son, perhaps they shall respect him!’ 14 But seeing him the husbandmen reasoned to one another saying ‘This is the heir! Come now! We should kill him, in order that the inheritance would be ours!’ 15 And casting him outside the vineyard they killed him. Therefore what shall the master of the vineyard do to them? 16 He shall come and he shall destroy those husbandmen and shall hire out the vineyard to others!” But hearing they said “May it not be!” 17 Then looking upon them He said “So what is this which is written, ‘The stone which the builders have rejected, this has come to be for the head cornerstone’? 18 All falling upon that stone shall be broken in pieces, and upon whom it may fall, he shall be scattered like chaff!”

19 And the scribes and the high priests sought to lay hands upon Him at that hour, yet they feared the people. For they knew that He spoke this parable concerning them. 20 And watching closely they sent spies, pretending themselves to be righteous, in order that they may intercept His speech, so as to hand Him over to the office and the authority of the governor. 21 And they questioned Him saying “Teacher, we know that You speak and You teach correctly and You do not receive one’s stature, but with truth You teach the way of Yahweh. 22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute tax to Caesar or not?” 23 But perceiving their villainy He said to them 24 “Show Me a denarion. Whose image and inscription does it have?” And they said: “Caesar’s!” 25 So He said to them: “Accordingly you render the things of Caesar to Caesar, and the things of Yahweh to Yahweh.” 26 And they were not able to object to the saying before the people, and being astonished by His answer they were silenced.

27 Then coming forth some of the Sadducees, those saying that there is not a resurrection, questioned Him 28 saying “Teacher, Moses had written for us ‘If one’s brother should die having a wife, and he should be childless, that he should take the wife of his brother and raise up offspring for his brother.’ 29 Therefore there were seven brothers, and the first taking a wife died childless. 30 And the second, 31 and the third had taken her, and in like manner even the seven not leaving children then died. 32 Later the woman also died. 33 Therefore the woman, in the resurrection, of which of them would she be a wife? For those seven have had her for a wife!” 34 And Yahshua said to them: “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, 35 but those deemed worthy to obtain that age and the resurrection from the dead neither shall marry nor be given in marriage. 36 Indeed neither are they able to die thereafter. For they are like the messengers and are sons of Yahweh, being sons of the resurrection. 37 But that the dead are raised, even Moses had made known at the bramble-bush as he calls Yahweh the God of Abraham and the God of Isaak and the God of Jakob. 38 Now Yahweh is not of the dead but of the living, for they all live by Him.”

39 Then replying some of the scribes said “Teacher, You have spoken well!” 40 Therefore no longer daring did they inquire anything of Him.

41 Then He said to them “How do they say that the Christ is to be a son of David? 42 For David himself says in the book of Psalms: ‘Yahweh has said to my master, sit at My right hand, 43 until when I shall place Your enemies as a footstool for Your feet.’ 44 Therefore David calls Him ‘master’, yet how is He his Son?”

45 Then with all of the people hearing, He said to His students: 46 “Beware of the scribes who wish to walk about in robes and love the greetings in the markets and the first benches in the assembly halls and the best seats at the dinners. 47 They devour the houses of widows and in pretense they pray at length. They shall receive much greater judgment.”

XXI 1 Then looking up He saw those casting the gifts of their riches into the treasury. 2 And He saw a certain needy widow casting two lepta there. 3 And He said “Truthfully I say to you that this poor widow has cast more than all! 4 For all of them from their abundance have cast in the gifts, but she from her want has cast in all the substance she had!”

5 And upon some speaking about the temple, that it was adorned with beautiful stones and ornaments, He said: 6 “These things which you behold, the days shall come in which there is not left here a stone upon a stone which shall not be thrown down.” 7 Then they questioned Him, saying “Teacher! So when shall these things be?” and “What is the sign when these things are going to come?” 8 And He said “Watch that you are not deceived. For many shall come by My Name saying ‘I am’ and ‘The time has come near.’ You should not go after them. 9 But when you hear of wars and disturbances, you should not be scared. For it is necessary that these things come first, but not immediately is the end.”

10 Then He said to them: “Nation shall arise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 There shall be both great earthquakes and famines and plagues in various places. There shall be both terrors and great signs from heaven. 12 But before all of these things they shall lay their hands upon you and persecute you, being handed over to the assembly halls and prisons, being led before kings and governors because of My Name. 13 It shall result in a testimony for you. 14 Therefore you set it in your hearts not to practice speaking in defense beforehand. 15 For I shall give to you a mouth and wisdom which all those opposing you shall not be able to withstand or contradict. 16 But you shall be handed over even by parents and brethren and kinsmen and friends, and they shall kill some of you, 17 and you shall be hated by all on account of My Name. 18 Yet a hair from your heads shall by no means be lost. 19 In your endurance must you gain your lives.

20 “But when you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, then you know that her desolation has come near. 21 Then those in Judaea must flee into the mountains, and those in her midst must leave the land, and those in the countryside must not enter into her! 22 Because these are the days of vengeance, by which all the things written are to be fulfilled! 23 Woe to those having conceived and to those with sucklings in those days! For there shall be great violence upon the earth, and wrath for this people! 24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword and they shall be taken away captive into all nations, and Jerusalem shall be tread upon by the heathens until the times of the heathens should be fulfilled. 25 And there shall be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth an affliction by the heathens, the sea and the waves roaring in difficulty, 26 men fainting from fear and the expectation of that coming upon the inhabited earth. For the powers of the heavens shall be shaken! 27 And then they shall see the Son of Man coming in a cloud in the midst of power and much effulgence. 28 And upon the beginning of these things happening, straighten up and raise your heads, since your redemption approaches.”

29 Then He spoke a parable to them: “See the fig tree and all the trees. 30 When already they have cast forth, seeing it for yourselves you know that already the harvest is near. 31 Thusly also you, when you should see these things happening, you know that the Kingdom of Yahweh is near. 32 Truly I say to you that by no means should this race escape until all things come to be. 33 The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but these words of Mine shall by no means pass away!

34 “Now watch yourselves, that at no time should your hearts be weighed down with hangovers and drunkenness and the cares of life, and suddenly that day should come upon you 35 like a snare! For it shall come upon all those sitting upon the face of all the earth. 36 But you be watchful, at all times making supplication that you would prevail to escape all these things which are going to happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

37 And those days He was teaching in the temple, then going out on the nights He camped in the mountain called “of Olives”. 38 And all the people arose early for Him, to hear Him in the temple.

XXII 1 Then approached the feast of unleavened bread which is called Passover. 2 And the high priests and the scribes were seeking how they should destroy Him, for they feared the people. 3 But the Adversary had approached Ioudas who is called Iskarioth, being of the number of the twelve. 4 And departing he had spoken with the high priests and the officers, how he may betray Him to them. 5 And they were delighted, and they conspired to give him money. 6 And having agreed, he then sought a good opportunity to betray Him to them, apart from the crowd.

7 And the day of the unleavened bread had come, in which it was necessary to sacrifice the Passover. 8 And He sent off Petros and Iohannes, saying “Going prepare for us the Passover in order that we may eat.” 9 But they said to Him: “Where do You wish that we should prepare it?” 10 So He said to them: “Behold, upon your going into the city, a man shall meet with you, carrying a jar of water. Follow him into the house which he goes into, 11 and you say to the master of that house: ‘The Teacher says to you, Where are the quarters where I shall eat the Passover with My students?’ 12 And he shall show you a spacious furnished upper room. There you shall prepare it.” 13 Then departing they found just as He spoke to them, and they prepared the Passover.

14 And when the hour had come, He reclined and the ambassadors with Him. 15 And He said to them “With longing have I desired to eat this Passover with you, before that which I am to suffer. 16 For I say to you that by no means shall I eat this until when it shall be fulfilled in the Kingdom of Yahweh.” 17 And taking a cup, blessing it He said “Take this and divide it for yourselves. 18 For I say to you, by no means shall I drink from the produce of the vine from now until when the Kingdom of Yahweh should come.” 19 And taking bread, blessing it He broke it and gave it to them saying “This is My body, which on behalf of you is being given. This you do for My recollection.” 20 And in like manner the cup while eating, saying “This is the cup of the New Covenant by My blood which on your behalf is being spilled.

21 “But behold! The hand of he betraying Me is upon the table with Mine! 22 For the Son of Man shall go in accordance with that which is appointed, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!” 23 And they began to dispute among themselves who then it could be from among them who is going to do this thing.

24 Then also there was a rivalry among them, which of them is supposed to be the greater. 25 And He said to them: “The kings of the nations rule over them, and those having authority over them are called ‘benefactors’. 26 But not so with you. Rather he who is greater among you must be as the inferior, and he who is leader as the servant. 27 For who is greater, he dining or he serving? Is it not he who is reclining? But I in the midst of you am as he serving!

28 “For you are those who have remained with Me in My trials. 29 And I delegate to you just as My Father has delegated to Me a Kingdom, 30 that you may eat and you may drink at My table in My Kingdom, and you shall sit upon thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

31 “Simon, Simon, behold! The Adversary demanded you, for which to winnow you as grain! 32 But I made supplication concerning you, that your faith would not fail. And when you have turned about, you must strengthen your brethren.” 33 Then he said to Him “Prince, I am ready to go with You even into prison and to death!” 34 But He said: “I say to you, Petros, today a cock shall not crow until you have three times denied knowing Me!”

35 And He said to them: “When I sent you without purse and wallet and sandals, did you have want of anything?” And they said “Nothing.” 36 Then He said to them: “But now he having a purse must take it, and likewise a wallet, and he not having a sword must sell his garment and buy one. 37 For I say to you that it is necessary for this scripture to be fulfilled in Me, that also ‘He was reckoned with the lawless.’ For even that which concerns Me has an end.” 38 And they said to Him, “Prince, look! Here are two swords!” And He said to them “That is sufficient.”

39 And departing He went as customary to the mount of Olives, and they and the students followed Him. 40 And having arrived at the place He said to them “You must pray not to enter into trial.” 41 And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw and kneeling He prayed, 42 saying “Father, if You wish turn this cup away from Me! But it is not My desire, rather it must be Yours.” 45 And rising up from prayer coming to the students He found them having fallen asleep out of grief, 46 and He said to them “Why do you sleep? Arising you must pray, that you enter not into trial.”

47 While He was yet speaking, behold, a crowd! And he who is called Ioudas, one of the twelve, went before them. And he approached Yahshua to kiss Him. 48 But Yahshua said to him: “Ioudas, you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?” 49 And they who were around Him, seeing that which would be, said “Prince! Shall we smite with the sword?” 50 And he smote a certain one of them, a servant of the high priest, and took off his right ear. 51 Then replying Yahshua said “Allow this for now!” And touching his ear He healed him.

52 And Yahshua said to those coming for Him, to the high priests and officers of the temple and elders, “As for a robber have you come out with swords and clubs? 53 On each day of My being with you in the temple you did not extend a hand upon Me, but this is your hour and the authority of darkness!”

54 Then seizing Him they took and led Him into the house of the high priest. And Petros followed at a distance. 55 And upon their igniting a fire in the midst of the court and sitting together, Petros sat amidst them. 56 And seeing him a certain maid-servant sitting by the light and staring at him said “He also was with Him!” 57 But he denied it, saying “I do not know Him, woman!” 58 And after awhile another seeing him said “You also are from among them.” But Petros said “Not I, man!” 59 And an interval of about one hour passing, a certain other affirmed confidently saying “By truth, he also was with Him, for he too is a Galilaian!” 60 But Petros said “Man, I do not know that which you say!” And immediately, upon his still speaking, a cock crowed. 61 Then turning the Prince looked at Petros, and Petros remembered the saying of the Prince as He had said to him, that “Before a cock crows today three times you shall deny Me.” 62 And going outside he wept bitterly.

63 And the men encompassing Him mocked Him, flailing 64 and covering Him over were questioning Him saying “Prophesy, who is he striking You?” 65 And they spoke many other blasphemies to Him.

66 And as day had come, the elders of the people gathered, with both high priests and scribes, and they brought Him to their council 67 saying “If You are the Christ, tell us!” And He said to them: “If I should tell you, you shall not believe it, 68 and if I shall ask, by no means will you answer. 69 But from this time the Son of Man shall be sitting at the right hand of the power of Yahweh.” 70 Then they all said “So You are the Son of Yahweh?” And He said to them “You say that I am.” 71 Then they said “What further witness do we have need of? For we have heard these things from His mouth!” XXIII 1 And rising, the whole multitude of them brought Him before Pilatos.

2 Then they began accusing Him saying “We have found Him perverting our nation and preventing giving tribute tax to Caesar, and saying of Himself to be the anointed king.” 3 Then Pilatos asked Him, saying “Are You the King of the Judaeans?” And replying He said to him “So you say.” 4 Then Pilatos said to the high priests and the crowds “I find not any guilt in this man.” 5 But they were more strongly saying that “He agitates the people teaching throughout all of Judaea, even beginning from Galilaia as far as here.” 6 Then Pilatos hearing inquired whether the man is a Galilaian. 7 And discovering that He is from the jurisdiction of Herodas, he sent Him to Herodas, he also being in Jerusalem in those days.

8 Then Herodas seeing Yahshua rejoiced exceedingly, for he was for a considerable time wishing to see Him on account of that which is heard concerning Him, and he hoped to see some sign coming from Him. 9 And he questioned Him with many statements, but He answered him nothing. 10 Then the high priests and the scribes had stood vigorously accusing Him. 11 And belittling Him, Herodas with his soldiers then mocking Him, wrapping Him in a splendid garment returned Him to Pilatos. 12 And Herodas and Pilatos became friends with each other on that day. For formerly they were at enmity between themselves.

13 Then Pilatos convening with the high priests and the leaders and the people 14 said to them: “You have brought to me this man as if He has been turning away the people, and behold, I before you inquiring found nothing with this man guilty of that which you make accusation against Him. 15 Yet not even Herodas, for he had sent Him back to you, and behold, there is nothing worthy of death done by Him. 16 Therefore chastising Him I shall release Him.”

18 But the whole multitude cried out saying “Kill Him! And release Barabbas for us!” 19 (Whom was because of a certain sedition which happened in the city, and a murder, cast into prison.) 20 Then again Pilatos addressed them, desiring to release Yahshua. 21 But they shouted out saying “You must crucify! You must crucify Him!” 22 Then a third time he said to them “Why, what evil has He done? I found in Him nothing guilty for death. Therefore chastising Him I shall release Him!” 23 But they were pressing on with great voices demanding for Him to be crucified, and their voices prevailed.

24 And Pilatos decided to meet their demands. 25 So he released he whom because of a sedition and a murder was cast into prison, whom they demanded, and Yahshua he handed over to their desires.

26 And as they led Him away, they seized upon one Simon, a Kurenaian who was coming from the field, and placed upon him the cross to bear behind Yahshua. 27 And there followed Him a great multitude of people and of women mourning and lamenting Him. 28 Then turning to them Yahshua said: “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children, 29 because behold, the days are coming in which they shall say ‘Blessed are the sterile and the wombs which have not brought forth and breasts which have not nursed!’ 30 Then they shall go on to say to the mountains ‘fall on us!’ and to the hills ‘cover us!’ 31 because if they do these things to the moist wood, what happens to the dry?”

32 And they also brought two other criminals with Him to be killed. 33 And when they came to a place called the Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and one on the left. 34 And casting lots they divided His garments.

35 And the people stood watching, and the leaders then mocked Him saying “He saved others, let Him save Himself if He is the anointed Son, the chosen of Yahweh!” 36 And they sported with Him, and the soldiers coming forth were offering Him vinegar 37 and saying “If You are the king of the Judaeans, save Yourself!” 38 And there was an inscription over Him, “This is the King of the Judaeans”.

39 Then one of the criminals hanging blasphemed Him saying “Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!” 40 But the other replying and censuring him said “Do you not fear even Yahweh, seeing that you are in the same judgment? 41 And we justly indeed, for we receive worthily for what we have done. But He has done nothing improper.” 42 And he said “Yahshua, remember me when You come into Your Kingdom!” 43 And He said to him “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in paradise.”

44 And it was already about the sixth hour and darkness came upon the whole land until the ninth hour, 45 there being an eclipse of the sun, and the curtain of the temple had torn in the middle. 46 And crying with a great voice Yahshua said “Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit!” And saying this He expired. 47 Then the centurion, seeing that which happened, extolled Yahweh saying “This man really was righteous!” 48 And all the crowds which stood together at that spectacle, observing the things which happened, smiting their breasts returned. 49 Then all those acquainted with Him stood at a distance, and the women who followed Him from Galilaia, to watch these things.

50 And behold, a man named Ioseph, a council member, being also a good and righteous man 51 (he was not in agreement with their counsel and action), from Harimathaia a city of the Judaeans, who awaited the Kingdom of Yahweh, 52 he going before Pilatos requested the body of Yahshua. 53 And taking it down he wrapped it in linen and set Him in a tomb hewn in stone where there was never anyone laid. 54 And it was the day of preparation, and Sabbath was beginning.

55 Then the women following after, who were they who came with Him from Galilaia, saw the tomb and how His body was set, 56 and returning they prepared herbs and ointments, then indeed they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.

XXIV 1 And on the first day of the week early at dawn they came to the tomb bearing the herbs which they prepared, 2 and they found the stone having been rolled away from the tomb, 3 then entering in they found not the body of Prince Yahshua. 4 And it came to pass while they were puzzled concerning this then behold, two men in shining garments stood over them. 5 And with their becoming terrified and bowing their faces to the ground they said to them “Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but has arisen! Remember that He had spoken to you yet being in Galilaia, 7 saying ‘it is necessary for the Son of Man to be handed over into the hands of sinful men, and to be crucified, and to be resurrected in the third day’.” 8 And they remembered His words.

9 And returning from the tomb they reported all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. 10 And they were Maria the Magdalene and Iohanna and Maria the mother of Iakobos and the rest of the women with them who spoke these things to the ambassadors, 11 and these words appeared before them as nonsense, and they did not believe them. 12 But Petros arising ran to the tomb and peering in sees the linen cloths only, and departed wondering to himself what had happened.

13 And behold, two of them on that day were traveling to a village which was named Emmaous, sixty stadia distant from Jerusalem. 14 And they were conversing with each other about all of those things which happened. 15 And it came to pass upon their conversing and disputing that Yahshua Himself approached, traveling with them. 16 But their eyes being restrained not recognizing Him 17 then He said to them “What are these words which you exchange with each other walking?” And they were in a sad state. 18 And one by the name of Kleopas replying said to Him “Do you alone dwell near Jerusalem and know not the things which happened in her in these days?” 19 And He said to them “What things?” And they said to Him “The things concerning Yahshua the Nazarene who was a man, a prophet, powerful in deed and in word before Yahweh and all of the people. 20 And how the high priests and our leaders gave Him over to a judgment of death and they crucified Him. 21 But we have had hope that it is He who is going to redeem Israel. Yeah, and with all these things, this is the third day which passes from when these things happened. 22 But then some women from among us had astonished us, having come early to the tomb 23 and not finding His body came saying also that they had seen a vision of messengers who said that He lives! 24 And some of those with us departing for the tomb also found thusly, just as the women spoke, and Him they saw not.” 25 And He said to them “Oh foolish and slow in heart to believe upon all which has been spoken by the prophets! 26 Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to enter into His honor?” 27 Then beginning from Moses and from all of the prophets He expounded for them by all of the writings the things about Himself.

28 And they came near to the village where they were going, and He pretended to travel further. 29 And they constrained Him saying “Stay with us, for it is near evening and already the day is past.” And He entered in to stay with them. 30 And it came to pass upon His reclining with them, taking the bread He blessed it and breaking it He gave it to them, 31 and their eyes were opened and they recognized Him. Then He became invisible to them. 32 And they said to each other “Were our hearts not burning within us as He spoke to us on the road, as He explained the writings to us?”

33 And arising at that moment they returned to Jerusalem and found the eleven gathered together and those with them, 34 saying that “The Prince really has arisen, and appeared to Simon!” 35 And they related the things on the road, and that He had become known to them as He broke the bread.

36 Then upon their speaking these things He stood in their midst and says to them “Peace to you.” 37 But being troubled and becoming frightened they imagined to be seeing a spirit. 38 And He said to them: “Why are you troubled and for what reason do disputes arise in your hearts? 39 You see My hands and My feet, that I am He. You touch Me and see, that a spirit has not flesh and bones, just as you see Me having.” 40 And saying this He showed them the hands and feet. 41 But upon their still being incredulous from joy and wondering, He said to them “Have you any food here?” 42 And they gave to Him a piece of broiled fish. 43 And taking it He ate before them.

44 Then He said to them: “These are My words which I had spoken to you while yet being with you, that it is necessary to fulfill all the things written in the law of Moses and in the prophets and psalms concerning Me.” 45 Then He opened their minds for which to understand the writings. 46 And He said to them that “Thusly it is written that the Christ is to suffer and to be resurrected from among the dead in the third day, 47 and for repentance for the remission of errors to be proclaimed in His Name to all the Nations beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I send the promise of My Father upon you, but you sit in the city until when you are endowed with ability from the heights.”

50 And He led them as far as to Bethania, and raising His hands He blessed them. 51 And it happened upon His blessing them that He had separated from them, and was carried up into the heaven. 52 And they worshipping Him returned to Jerusalem with great joy 53 and were continually in the temple praising Yahweh.
