6th century fresco from ancient Maryam Quiat church in Ethiopia
On the left cupola are nine of the Apostles. On the right are eight of the Nine Saints. Clockwise from the bottom: Aragawi, Alef, Guba, Tsehema, Pantalewon, Garima, Likanos, and Aftse. Originally from The American University in Cairo Press.
Notice the mixed appearances of the men depicted, some appearing to the White, and others Arab. This is what we may expect from Ethiopia at that time, as well as from Egypt.
